Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Rottweiler Wolf?

We had a lovely day at the creek with our beloved Mabel Lou, a large Rottweiler and Greyhound mix (a superb combo, if you ask me). A few weeks ago, I wrote about Mabel and Frankie. Some of you got scared. Watch out, the photos you're about to watch are scarier! You've had your warning.
Hey, you're too close, Mabel!
said the small rescue dog to the larger one

I said, back off, bud!
I gave her the chihuahua snarl for this one

If you don't back off soon, I can't be responsible for what happens next!
The rottweiler mix seems perplexed still

I Warned You!

My momma doesn't have photos of what happened next. To sum it up, Linguini and Frankie decided to back me up. Momma had to drop the camera and talk some sense into us. Peace was soon restored. We're all rescue dogs and we should just get along and be grateful. The truth is, Mabel just wanted to play. She's an oversized pup. In the end, we let her do what she loves the most: PLAY
We had a lovely hike, all of us.

We came home, muddy and cold. We took warm baths and landed on our heating pads (Frankie and I). Thinking back to our hike, I can't wait to go again with my friend, Mabel.

  3. Erm Twinky, we don't think you should be making snarly faces like that at big dogs like Mabel - eek!
That looks like another great hike. Thank you for the mental rays of sunshine, ahhhh we are basking in them now. It is freezing here, we are accross the North Sea from Norway, brrrrrr.

  4. Hi Twinkie,
Mom and I are LOL at Frankie and Mabel...oh my word. Little dogs are TNT on mini wheels. Reminds us so much of Toto. Years ago we had a very large Golden,Toby, next door. Toto's favorite activity was to get in between Toby's hind legs nipping at his flowing red fur. Toby would try to get to Toto by running in circles...he never could catch him.
Yep mom loves all animals great and small.
She doesn't ride horses but she certainly does admire them. Anywhere there is an animal Mom will go. We enjoyed reading about how Daisy got changed to Linquini.

  5. Sometimes those really big dogs are as gentle as lambs. Mabel looks like she is very sweet.

  7. The gorgeous photos are amazing...not to mention the perfect action shots!

This is proof positive that all little dogs are only big dogs in disguise.

  9. Frankie Furter is right, a dog that fetches trees when she is a puppy, is a dog I want to be my friend.

  10. I think you were being very nice to Mabel. Maybe she can carry you home on her back when you get tired!

  11. Mabel Lou's Mom here... She is actually part GREYHOUND and Rott with a little lab thrown in. I also like to add that she's probably part mountain goat, part hog (loves to wallow in mud!) and definitely a heart stealer!

Twinkie, you know she adores you! She's would love a hike right NOW! We so enjoyed this hike! You all crack me up all the time!!!

  12. What a beauty Mabel is!! Bilbo and I both have a love/hate relationship with our cousin Jenny who is a 175 lb rottie. We have been known to give her a piece of our minds every now and then...

  13. Twinkie, what did I say about being careful around big dogs?!? I know you're brave and all, but that's kinda reckless the way you snarled at Mabel Lou! Please be careful! Good thing Linguini and Frankie were there to break it up.

  17. Twink, I can understand... Mable's big nose next to your tiny butthole would be a little unnerving! Way to set some boundaries.

    Love ya girlfriend,
