You ready to become more eco friendly? Start with buying eco friendly dog supplies. There are a several eco friendly products in the market. One is the Doggie Dooley 2000 Plastic Septic-Tank-Style Pet-Waste Disposal System. It's an environmentally safe in-ground system.
Our blog friends, Tiny Growl, have made their business to help with our environment. They have created the ScooPup Pocket, "A better way to pick up after your pup!" I was really hoping to win their G.A.B.E. giveaway, but now I'll just have to purchase one--money well spent.
Using the ScooPup Pocket
They even recommend biodegradable poop baggies
I too recommend biodegradable baggies. Check out Bags on Board Dispenser and Baggies!
Of course, on site composting is my favorite. You save resources by building soil. This is just for your flowers and not your veggies, still, an inexpensive and simple way to help out our environment and feel good about yourselves.
I think I'm going to go for a hike to check out the new growth in the burn areas. I feel the need to be outdoors to celebrate earth day. Hopefully, I won't encounter many plastic bags in my path.
Enjoy earth day!

Great post!
ReplyDeleteIm not a fan of people not picking up their pooches poop... even if you move it over there's a chance of a person or animal to step in it... or in Darwin's case, check it out and maybe taste it (nasty).
Im all for biodegradable bags!
We also have a doggie dooley for some of the dogs at our condo. I just never seem to remember to grab the scooper when we take Darwin out.
Mom's lucky that most of the time I poop in the fields or if I don't they shovel it into the fields. But they always clean up after me if we go out in public. All great tools to be earth friendlier!
ReplyDeleteThanks Twink for all the helpful hints!
Woofs and green slobbers,

Thanks for the info. We have to use bags to clean up after our pooches, so it's good to know about these options.
ReplyDeleteGreat suggestions! Thanks for the information on the biodegradable bags!

We like the biodegradable bags, less stuff in the dump that won't just sit there for ages! That's why Mom switched our pee pads from disposables to washables, she just hated the thought of our pee pads just sitting there for eons in the town dump (like nasty hooman baby diapers). Since we poop inside, our poop gets flushed down the toilet like hooman poop, but on our walks, Mom does use the bags to pick up our poops, even though our poops our itty bitty and also smell like roses, BOL!

Great Earth Day post, Twink. Our Mom does use the biodegradable baggies when we are out on walks. At home she puts it in brown paper bags and then in a covered barrel until trash day. EXCEPT when we get to digging, then she fills our holes with our poop - gross, but it does stop our digging.
ReplyDeleteHappy Earth Day.

ReplyDeleteGood point and good ideas. We use the biodegradable bags when we go on walks too. We try to reuse and save the earth a little.

I was wondering if that was a typo in da second paragraph...there are several ego friendly blah, blah, blah????
ReplyDeleteI personally am a fan of NOT picking my poop up. However, mum and dad haves a empty house and a man takes his doggies to poop in da yard there. They is NOT happy cuz he don't take his doggies to da vet and they skeered dad might step in it and accidently brings it home and contaminate us.

Those sound like excellent products. I will recommend them to my humans immediately. Thanks for the recommendations.

The Doggie septic tank sounds like a good idea but your can't use it the weather is under 32 degrees. So that would be Oct-April here. Not really much use for 3/4 of the states.

You have lots of good ideas in there, Twink! We've not heard a lot of great things about the Doggie Dooley, though. We were thinking about it at one time, but it doesn't handle the waste from more than two dogs and there were four here when they were thinking about it. Plus, some of our greyhound friends didn't have very good luck with it, so we just skipped it. We do use biodegradable poop bags, though!

My mom is big on that Pick up the Poops thingy. My baggie holder is a red fire plug. hehehe. She has it on my leash with... a shower curtain hook. BOL BOL BOL

Hi, Twinkie!
ReplyDeleteI have one of those baggie bones... but I have never pooped outside my house!
It is funny to see my mom carry it everytime we go out for a walkie. She says that maybe one day I would like to poo and she wants to be prepared!
Kisses and hugs

Great post, Twink!

We have a GIANT pile of poo at that back of our property. STINKIE! We almost got a doggie dooly but then it got burned up in our barn fire and never replaced. Of course on walkies momma (almost) always picks up (sometimes in a snow storm she gets lazy).
ReplyDeleteSlobbers,
Mango
Wonder if one of those systems would hold all 4 of our poop in it. :)
