The following chihuahua pictures are hopefully from my dream sequence . . .
I, Twinkie, the teacup chihuahua, used to be the only tiny dog in my household. Those were the good ol' days, when I ruled the world and my blog.
What's HE doing on my bed?
He can't think he's staying!
Turn around, Pedrito. Stop faking it.
Ay ay ay!
What has this dog world come to?
I'm warning you!
UGH! I give up. I hope when I wake up this is all going to be over .
Twinkie
Oh ew! He is so close and his cooties will be everywhere.

Rut roh - we think we see the beginnings of acceptance. Just like with Phantom, it takes time, but in the end, the Pest has won him over totally.
ReplyDeleteThe one good point we can see is that it is nice to have somepup to snuggle with to help you keep warm.
Happy Sunday.

I'm sure you'll learn to appreciate the extra warmth your chihuahua bodies need. In the mean time, I suggest an extra sharp nip on the hiney if he gets too personal too quickly!

ReplyDeleteI agree with the others... just think of him as a built-in heater! :)
ReplyDeleteIsn't it about time for your parents to take him back to wherever he came from? I fully expect Mom to take Abby back to the Planet of the Lard Butts, but it hasn't happened yet. We can always hope, huh? ;-)

Oh Twinkie,
ReplyDeleteWe know how you feel. I, Ginger, took almost 5 months before I realised what fun it is to have a brother like Buddy.
And now we all are getting adjusted to having our puppy brother Shadow around.
We know you will be JUST FINE:)
wags,
Ginger
OMD... he's trying sooooo hard! Ah Twinkie, he's kinda cute. (famous last words... i know, he doesn't live with US...)
ReplyDeleteHi Twinkie,
ReplyDeleteIt sure looks like Pedro is trying to bond with you more. He can be handy when it gets colder.

Too late. If you let them into your bed one time, they think they own it from then on! :)
ReplyDeleteOh my, he does look very settled in in your bed. Action must be taken immediately!
ReplyDeleteNubbin wiggles,
Oskar
We see there's room in that bed for Pedrito and if you allow him to snuggle closer, you'll get the warmth. Enjoy! Hehehe....
ReplyDeleteHaaa!
ReplyDeleteTwinkie... he loves being close to you!
Happy sunday!
Kisses and hugs
Lorenza
Pedrito is so happy, it's in his eyes. Maybe in due time Pedrito will win you over, Twink:)

If it's any comfort, Pedro looks scared to death :) So he's sufficiently desperate for your affection - or your bed - that he's willing to face his fears and curl up with you. Seems to us you have the whip hand. He's acknowledging you as top dog and you know you like that!

the booker man
We adopted a short hair female Chihuahua pup last summer. At that time the prior owner said she was about 8-9 months, so if thats correct she would be about a year & 1/2 now or slightly younger. We had her spayed about 4 months ago. She was very tiny and skinny when we got her, and of course still a puppy. Since her surgery (could just be a coincidence, and nothing to do with the spaying, not sure) she has had a voracious appetite, wanting to eat everything in sight, and constantly wanting to share with everyone's "people food" too. I know part of that is discipline & training, teaching her its not ok to cry and beg. It is hard for chihuahua's I have noticed, as they are extremely determined and stubborn on getting their way, especially when it comes to food. She sometimes just seems like is insatiable, like all she thinks about is food. She will sniff around the house all day long searching. If something is left on a counter top or tray table, she will jump up on her hind legs and sniff it out, circling like a shark to try and see if she can get some of the food. I've never seen a dog so crazy about eating and food. I don't know if her appetite has been affected by the spaying - it just seems like ever since then, she's been a food maniac. She has gained maybe 3-4 lbs. Right now she weighs about 7-8 lbs approx. She is very very muscular and strong - you can see the muscles right under her skin and feel them very solid. She runs alot outside, we take her for walks almost every day, and we play with her for long periods of time in the house playing ball catch and toy toss & catch games that she loves so much. So she does move around alot and gets alot of exercise. Some friends have said she looks "fat" now compared to when we first got her and she was a skinny tiny little puppy. I am sure too that female chi's broaden a bit in the body area in case they would have ever had puppies. I don't feel any fat on her body. But I am not sure where to look. Where do chi's store fat on their bodies if they are over weight ? We want her to be healthy and not overweight, and live a long life. She currently eats "Chicken soup for the puppy lovers soul" dry food - about 2/3 cup a day. Is there any thing I can check on her body for fat or being overweight ? What is a normal weight for a small female chihuahua? (I guess it depends really on their body lengh and height, so it can probably vary by a few lbs). Any info would help. Thanks !!
ReplyDeleteHi DCS... You should be able to feel the ribs but not see them, and keep an eye on her waist..there should be a definite waist. If you start to see her waist getting thick, then its time to cut back.
ReplyDeleteBoth of my chis have been little piggies, and so is my mothers chi. Some breeds tends to be food hogs, and in my experience, chis are. I doubt that it has anything to do with her spaying.
You just have to harden your heart when she tries to convince you that she is starving, and keep in mind that a tiny treat to us is a meal to a small dog.
