Viva La Dog Spa's Berry Facial Wipes | Product Review

I have stumbled yet upon another dog product worth mentioning; the Berry Facial Wipes by Viva La Dog Spa.

The company's motto is, "Delightful products for the pampered pet and the indulgent parent who dotes on her furry companion." If that turns you off, keep reading. I don't overindulge my dogs, I have too many for plain pampering. The products I use also have to be practical and ideally eco friendly.

Berry Facial Wipes encompass all that I need, plus they are appealing to the eye, since they come in an adorable pink package with a cosmetic seal. The container holds 45 3" durable wipes made of excellent quality. They are saturated in a mild cleanser of water, aloe vera, witch hazel, chamomile, rosemary, raspberry and sage. Your pooch's coat will shine thanks to the pro-vitamin B5 (Panthenol) and allantoin that act like conditioners, both ingredients beneficial to the skin as well. The fragrance is gentle, pleasant, and not overpowering, leaving your dog fresh and clean.

Viva La Dog Spa recommends the use of the Berry Facial Wipes for customers who are afraid to wash their dog's face without getting soap in his eyes, and for those who like to wipe their dog's face after a meal. I also use them for tear stains and, in the case of small dogs, a full body clean up in between baths.

The packaging of all of Viva La Dog Spa's products is visually appealing, and they make excellent gifts. More important than the look, they are eco friendly. The solutions are biodegradable and the bottles they come in, made out of pre-recycling material,  can be recycled anywhere. Furthermore, they are manufactured in a 100% solar powered facility in the United States.

Berry Facial Wipes: 4 out of 4 paws up

They are good for your dog, practical, stylish, convenient, and eco friendly while they don't break down in your hand. For use on our largest sixty-pound dalmatian mix, to the smallest two-pound teacup chihuahua, for use on both our cats and dogs, I am glad to have discovered this great product.

Clean+Green by SeaYu | Product Review

A product review for animal lovers made by animal lovers who also care about our environment. Review o-ver. Okay, maybe not so fast.

Two characteristics of our times are the increasing environmental consciousness and an obvious trend to really care for animals. Clean+Green targets the eco-friendly pet lover. Welcome to the animal blog-dom SeaYu! Where were you all this time?

Clean+Green's eco friendly products come in a variety of formulas, each product ozone safe, water soluble, biodegradable, and free of fragrances and masking agents. It is pet, child, and environment safe. Clean+Green is non-toxic, non-carinogenic, and is recyclable.

I'm writing this review from the standpoint of a rather large mixed cat dog household. Why is that so special? Not only are there ten pets sharing one roof (not including periodical rescues and fosters), but as we all know, cats and dogs don't always get along. The way this is mostly manifested is by MARKING! Every new fur-ball introduced to a mixed household necessitates the use of hard labor on the humans' part. So far, since my house is predominately "green", I've been using vinegar to neutralize pet urine at it's root. I do not like using harsh chemicals, on the other hand, I did cave in and bought ... whatever they sold at the local pet store. Not only did I feel guilty, most products didn't even work the way the label said.

As I type away, most of my furniture is outdoors, on the patio chairs. The cats went wild recently when I tried to introduce a family of four to the existing pack and tribe. There was little blood shed. There was lots of urine however. Now, as many animal lovers, I've been accused of overdoing it. I do not like to be criticized, so I made it one of my life's missions to get those people to zip it. The one thing that I focus on is odors! Whenever a friend stops by, they are put under the sniff test. I ask them to sniff hard and tell me if there are any lingering odors. So far, I've managed, yet, most of my furniture ended on the covered patio.

I had washed my couch pillows and extra large seat cushions with detergent. Sprayed them with products, used harsh chemicals, odor neutralizers . . . and ultimately, I still had to leave everything outdoors for a prolonged period of time, just to be safe.

After treating my urine soaked pillows with Clean+Green Carpet and Upholstery, I saw the difference.
SeaYu Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner, Odor Eliminator & Stain Remover

The directions on the spray can were clear: spray the affected area so that it is wet but not soaked. Clean+Green works by making contact with the odor. I knew I couldn't do just that. My problem had penetrated deeply. So, I soaked the pillows. The next morning we had lots of rain and the cushions were still wet. As soon as the sun came up the third day, I was stunned to find out that the urine odor was gone!

I love animals. I can't imagine life without my extended furry family, but I realize that without the proper product, my home too was bound to fall victim to nasty pet odors. Today, I am grateful say that I have finally found a product that works the way it claims while it is eco friendly.

The Clean+Green website has a store locator and lots of extra information. I also found that I can buy Clean+Green through Amazon, and I've already placed my next order.

What rating would I give Clean+Green by SeaYu? Almost a perfect ten. I'm very picky and found the aerosol spray to be a tad messy. This won't stop me from using this product in the future. I'm also going to order their Clean+Green Litter Box Cleaner and odor remover for extra clean air in my home. Another product I'm definitely getting as soon as possible, is their De-Skunk coat cleaner. There's a skunk living in my back yard and it's only a matter of time before my dogs get skunked, again.

I like being clean and green. How about you?

Clean+Green is so enthusiastic, proud, and sure about the performance of their product, that they offered to be the sponsors of our next pet photo contest. Three lucky winners get to see how well Clean+Green works.

Wordless Wednesday & Sabbatical Cancelled

This is the photo I was originally going to share with you on Wordless Wednesday:

It's me, Twinkie, the teacup chihuahua, enjoying my sabbatical.

Meeep!
Change of plans.

Before taking my leave of absence, I'd made a prior commitment to post a product review for an eco friendly company I discovered, and since they went through the trouble to mail me some of their products and since they also volunteered to give out not just one but THREE free giveaways, I have no choice but keep my word.
True indeed, ladies and tramps, I am nuts enough to start yet another pet photo contest. All I ask of you is this:
Show Us Your Ears
or
Show Us Your Hineys
?

This will be a combined pet photo contest once again. There will be no links posted on my blog since many of our contestants don't even have a blog. So, what do you say?

Oh, you want to hear about the giveaway! But you know me, I'm a tease and I love a good mystery. Stay tuned. A review and an announcement are coming your way soon. All I can say is that this particular eco friendly product works for mixed "cat dog" households, as for the rest of the pets, fear not, the contest will not only be limited to cats and dogs.

I look forward to your input as I try to figure out a way to make this contest easy and fun for you and me alike.

The Cat Litter Scoop

The cat litter reviews are in and I'm here to share with you the results of my extensive research and trial and error experience.

CAT LITTER BOXES
There are plenty of cat litter boxes to chose from today in the market. You can go the traditional cost effective route of a simple box with or without a cover. You can also pick an inexpensive, non mechanical, self cleaning litter box like the Omega Paw Self-Cleaning Litter Box, Green and Beige. We tried it and found it to be too messy and inconvenient.
If you are willing and able to spend more money, you can opt for an automatic self-cleaning litter box such as the LitterMaid LM900 Mega Self-Cleaning Litter Box, or the ScoopFree® Self-Cleaning Litter Box, the Litter Robot LRII Automatic Self-Cleaning Litter Box, Beige, and even the CatGenie 120 Self-Washing Self-Flushing Cat Box. All those are pricey though, and sometimes, when not introduced properly to your cat, can create more issues than solutions. The best automated cat litter box reviews go to the Litter Robot.
Because I live in a mixed, dog and cat, household, and because I have had mechanical malfunction issues when I attempted to test the automated self-cleaning litter boxes, my personal favorite is the Clevercat Top Entry Litter Box. It costs only $28 and it's the most dog proof cat litter box we've used. It's simple, inexpensive, effective, and your dogs don't get to use its contents as dog food! You can pick any type of cat litter to use with the Clevercat Top Entry Litter Box.

CAT LITTER SCOOP
A new product to hit the market is the Absolutely New Scoop 'N Bag Pivoting Head Blue Litter Scoop for Cats. This cat litter scoop sells for $16 and boasts that it can scoop up waste from hard to reach angles using an adjustable five position head. It even holds a roll (included in the order) of biodegradable waste bags. An older favorite, is the $9 Booda Scoop'N Hide Litter Scoop which has the added convenience of self storage and a built-in rake for easy cleaning. It's also available in many colors to suit your style. My personal favorite is the basic, but sturdy and convenient while inexpensive, Litter-Lifter Kitty Scoop. It does it's job and it does it well.

CAT LITTER
So many options available once more, but I urge everyone to opt for an eco friendly brand. Flushable cat litter not only can occasionally cause plumbing problems, in some states, as in California, it should NOT be flushed. Apparently, in California, flushable cat litter has caused damage to sea otters. Check with your state before purchasing flushable cat litter. Overall, cat lovers and experts are not fond of crystal cat litter either. Chrystal cat litter is made out of silica gel and is super absorbent and convenient, if your cat does not mind the texture. Because of its super absorbency, this type of litter comes in more manageable size bags that are easier to carry. Crystal cat litter has been labeled dangerous by the less savvy. They are not. They only contain silica sand, water, and oxygen. They are supposedly safe enough to eat. Currently, because we live in a multicast household, we are using Scoop Away Multiple-Pet Cat Litter - 28 lbs. because it's easy to use, easy to clean, all the cats got used to it without any adjustment period, and because we can also find it at our local Costco, a great source for discountd pet products.

This concludes todays overview of cat toilet paraphernalia. Stay tuned for future individual and more specialized product reviews and tips.

Eco Friendly Products

It's the time to inspire awareness and appreciation for our Earth. As you all know, I'm a green dog living in a green home. When is earth day? Today, April 22nd. That's why I want do discuss a few eco friendly products to help with earth day activities. I decided to focus on poopy related products mainly. I'm so fed up seeing plastic bags on the hills where I hike. Frankly, I don't even see the need for poop baggies in nature. Just move the poo to the side and get on with your walk. Nature will take care of the rest. M is disgusted and upset because she often finds bags full of poop in out trash cans, on pick up day, when she goes to pull them inside the garage. We don't want poop in our garage, especially somebody else's. Ours smells like roses.

You ready to become more eco friendly? Start with buying eco friendly dog supplies.  There are a several eco friendly products in the market. One is the Doggie Dooley 2000 Plastic Septic-Tank-Style Pet-Waste Disposal System. It's an environmentally safe in-ground system.

Our blog friends, Tiny Growl, have made their business to help with our environment. They have created the ScooPup Pocket, "A better way to pick up after your pup!" I was really hoping to win their G.A.B.E. giveaway, but now I'll just have to purchase one--money well spent.

Using the ScooPup Pocket
They even recommend biodegradable poop baggies

I too recommend biodegradable baggies. Check out Bags on Board Dispenser and Baggies!

Of course, on site composting is my favorite. You save resources by building soil. This is just for your flowers and not your veggies, still, an inexpensive and simple way to help out our environment and feel good about yourselves.

I think I'm going to go for a hike to check out the new growth in the burn areas. I feel the need to be outdoors to celebrate earth day. Hopefully, I won't encounter many plastic bags in my path.

Enjoy earth day!
