Moochie And Company, Weather Tech Jacket | Product Review

My name is Twinkie and I hate dog apparel! As a matter of fact, I have to attend AA (Apparel Anonymous) meetings once a week. I was really excited to receive a package from Moocie and Company. Imagine my surprise when I opened it to find out it was: dog clothes! M said I'd like them, and I said I wouldn't. Next thing I know, she had me on her lap and was dressing me. As I was struggling to stop her, I noticed the proud chiweenie, Frankie, waiting her turn. She loves dog clothes.

Well, as I like to say: always listen to your parents. M was right again. My beautiful jacket gets my seal of approval. As far as small dog clothes go, I admit, the weather tech jacket by Moochie and Company, took me by surprise. I can prove it.

Not only do I feel comfortable and beautiful, my jacket is waterproof, wind resistant, and it has a warm soft fleece interior that does not irritate my delicate diva skin.
Also, the reflective pipping, makes me visible at night, when I prefer to jog (away from the pup-arazzi).

My sissy likes the fact that she can do her business in comfort.

"Hey, puppy. You're not wearing your Moochie weather tech jacket. Go away."
(Please pardon the interruption)

I have no problem stalking with my jacket on.

Nor play bitey face.

My weather tech jacket allows me ease of movement, so I can dig easily.

I can also play tug-of-stick with great ease.

Frankie and I feel like models.

I give the weather tech jacket four out of four paws up.

If you are a small dog, check out these small dog clothes, I think you will like them too.

Viva La Dog Spa's Berry Facial Wipes | Product Review

I have stumbled yet upon another dog product worth mentioning; the Berry Facial Wipes by Viva La Dog Spa.

The company's motto is, "Delightful products for the pampered pet and the indulgent parent who dotes on her furry companion." If that turns you off, keep reading. I don't overindulge my dogs, I have too many for plain pampering. The products I use also have to be practical and ideally eco friendly.

Berry Facial Wipes encompass all that I need, plus they are appealing to the eye, since they come in an adorable pink package with a cosmetic seal. The container holds 45 3" durable wipes made of excellent quality. They are saturated in a mild cleanser of water, aloe vera, witch hazel, chamomile, rosemary, raspberry and sage. Your pooch's coat will shine thanks to the pro-vitamin B5 (Panthenol) and allantoin that act like conditioners, both ingredients beneficial to the skin as well. The fragrance is gentle, pleasant, and not overpowering, leaving your dog fresh and clean.

Viva La Dog Spa recommends the use of the Berry Facial Wipes for customers who are afraid to wash their dog's face without getting soap in his eyes, and for those who like to wipe their dog's face after a meal. I also use them for tear stains and, in the case of small dogs, a full body clean up in between baths.

The packaging of all of Viva La Dog Spa's products is visually appealing, and they make excellent gifts. More important than the look, they are eco friendly. The solutions are biodegradable and the bottles they come in, made out of pre-recycling material,  can be recycled anywhere. Furthermore, they are manufactured in a 100% solar powered facility in the United States.

Berry Facial Wipes: 4 out of 4 paws up

They are good for your dog, practical, stylish, convenient, and eco friendly while they don't break down in your hand. For use on our largest sixty-pound dalmatian mix, to the smallest two-pound teacup chihuahua, for use on both our cats and dogs, I am glad to have discovered this great product.

Clean+Green by SeaYu | Product Review

A product review for animal lovers made by animal lovers who also care about our environment. Review o-ver. Okay, maybe not so fast.

Two characteristics of our times are the increasing environmental consciousness and an obvious trend to really care for animals. Clean+Green targets the eco-friendly pet lover. Welcome to the animal blog-dom SeaYu! Where were you all this time?

Clean+Green's eco friendly products come in a variety of formulas, each product ozone safe, water soluble, biodegradable, and free of fragrances and masking agents. It is pet, child, and environment safe. Clean+Green is non-toxic, non-carinogenic, and is recyclable.

I'm writing this review from the standpoint of a rather large mixed cat dog household. Why is that so special? Not only are there ten pets sharing one roof (not including periodical rescues and fosters), but as we all know, cats and dogs don't always get along. The way this is mostly manifested is by MARKING! Every new fur-ball introduced to a mixed household necessitates the use of hard labor on the humans' part. So far, since my house is predominately "green", I've been using vinegar to neutralize pet urine at it's root. I do not like using harsh chemicals, on the other hand, I did cave in and bought ... whatever they sold at the local pet store. Not only did I feel guilty, most products didn't even work the way the label said.

As I type away, most of my furniture is outdoors, on the patio chairs. The cats went wild recently when I tried to introduce a family of four to the existing pack and tribe. There was little blood shed. There was lots of urine however. Now, as many animal lovers, I've been accused of overdoing it. I do not like to be criticized, so I made it one of my life's missions to get those people to zip it. The one thing that I focus on is odors! Whenever a friend stops by, they are put under the sniff test. I ask them to sniff hard and tell me if there are any lingering odors. So far, I've managed, yet, most of my furniture ended on the covered patio.

I had washed my couch pillows and extra large seat cushions with detergent. Sprayed them with products, used harsh chemicals, odor neutralizers . . . and ultimately, I still had to leave everything outdoors for a prolonged period of time, just to be safe.

After treating my urine soaked pillows with Clean+Green Carpet and Upholstery, I saw the difference.
SeaYu Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner, Odor Eliminator & Stain Remover

The directions on the spray can were clear: spray the affected area so that it is wet but not soaked. Clean+Green works by making contact with the odor. I knew I couldn't do just that. My problem had penetrated deeply. So, I soaked the pillows. The next morning we had lots of rain and the cushions were still wet. As soon as the sun came up the third day, I was stunned to find out that the urine odor was gone!

I love animals. I can't imagine life without my extended furry family, but I realize that without the proper product, my home too was bound to fall victim to nasty pet odors. Today, I am grateful say that I have finally found a product that works the way it claims while it is eco friendly.

The Clean+Green website has a store locator and lots of extra information. I also found that I can buy Clean+Green through Amazon, and I've already placed my next order.

What rating would I give Clean+Green by SeaYu? Almost a perfect ten. I'm very picky and found the aerosol spray to be a tad messy. This won't stop me from using this product in the future. I'm also going to order their Clean+Green Litter Box Cleaner and odor remover for extra clean air in my home. Another product I'm definitely getting as soon as possible, is their De-Skunk coat cleaner. There's a skunk living in my back yard and it's only a matter of time before my dogs get skunked, again.

I like being clean and green. How about you?

Clean+Green is so enthusiastic, proud, and sure about the performance of their product, that they offered to be the sponsors of our next pet photo contest. Three lucky winners get to see how well Clean+Green works.

Product Review: Ultrasonic Bark Control

Stop Barking Dogs

All dogs are irritating when they bark, but small dogs are notoriously annoying. Because we were looking for ultrasonic pet trainer to suit all breeds, small and large, we decided to try a hand held, inexpensive, bark control device. We ordered the PetZoom Sonic Pet Trainer that costs $20 plus shipping and handling. You get a bonus nail groomer with your order (which they claim is valued at $19.95). Your other option is to buy PetZoom from Amazon for $16.98 a small saving that does not include the nail groomer, but if you're a Prime member you also don't pay shipping.

The PetZoom Sonic Pet Trainer claims to be safe, harmless, and effective, a 20 ft. range, and to work on all dogs and cats.

We tested it on the dogs. The word miracle comes to mind. As with all sonic pet trainers, this one is inaudible by the human ear, so it's really shocking to push a button and have all your dogs instantly stop barking, especially because you don't hear a thing. Our dalmatian-shorthaired pointer mix, stops barking, bows her head slightly, and then resumes what she was doing. The little chiweenie only stops barking showing no other signs of acknowledgment, and the tiny teacup chihuahua instantly stops barking and stares quizzically at the person handling the pet training device.

This ultrasonic bark control device is a bit bulky, yet still small enough to fit in a pocket. We're trying to come up with a smart contraption to keep it on us at all times (perhaps some super glue and sting so that it can be worn over the neck at all times).

In brief, ultrasonic bark control devices are intended to halt trying barking by emitting an annoying tone that only your dog can hear. The tone is the deterrent. The effectiveness, based on the reviews we read, debatable for some.

We checked around and discovered one more ultrasonic bark control device similar to the PetZoom and that is the As Seen on TV BarkOff training aid. The BarkOff costs only $10 plus shipping and handling, half the price of the PetZoom. I should also mention, that you can get BarkOff from Amazon for $9.99 plus shipping. Similarly with the PetZoom, the BarkOff gets both raving reviews and disappointment. We lucked out, all our barking dogs instantly seized, but apparently it does not work on all dogs. For the price, I recommend you give it a shot. It's better than losing your mind or upsetting your neighborhood with your barking dogs when there are dog bark control devices such as these in the market.

We love the fact that this type of sonic pet trainers work on all breeds and were terribly relieved to eliminate the high pitched bark small dogs make, as were our neighbors. We will continue our research and we will test our PetZoom on the cats too. Meanwhile, I suggest you don't wait. You don't have much to lose but you have potentially a lot to gain, as it was in our case. Stop barking dogs.

Outdoor Dog Beds | Product Review and Research

With the weather finally warming up, I'm here to share my experience and research about outdoor dog beds, in particular the Petmate dog bed and the Coolaroo dog bed.

What is wrong with the picture?

It's kept together with bungee cord. This extra large dog bed started falling apart soon after we got it. The screws were too small and as the dogs kept jumping on and off, they initially kept getting lose until the threads wore off. I have read many reviews that state that if you contact Petmate they will provide replacement parts and on occasion they will replace the entire dog bed. In our case, we opted for the "easy fix." It may not look stylish, but it works. Because this dog bed is too hard (the bottom consists of a hard board) and because one of our dogs is old and has arthritis, we had to find a cushion that fit. The above cushion was purchased at Costco and it works great.
The Petmate dog bed gets an average 4 stars out of five. The feedback is that it is a great concept but not durable. The price range is roughly between $35.00 and $90.00 depending on both size and where you purchase it from.

A great contender for the Petmate dog bed is the Coolaroo dog bed. The Coolaroo is much simpler in it's construction. There are fewer complaints about it's durability and it gets 4+ stars out of five. They also sell separate covers. The one drawback is that this line of the Coolaroo does not have offer an extra large dog bed. The sizes go from small to large. The price range, again based mostly on the size is between $24.00 and $40.00, definitely less than the Petmate. Also, because of the design, you don't have to worry about extra padding. It's also rather reassuring to know that you can find replacement covers available from roughly $10.00 to $15.00.

This model has an extra large dog bed and in that size costs approximately $80-$90.00. The aluminum frame is sturdy and non-corrosive. Again, like with the previous model, the knit fabric makes it both comfortable and breathable, also easy to clean. This extra large dog bed measures 49" by 35" fabric sleeping area.

Coolaroo makes a folding model as well, for the active families on the go. This line also does not offer an extra large dog bed

It appears that the main complaint Coolaroo owners have is the lack of the proper size for giant dogs. Elevated dog beds for large dogs are hard to find. However, based on experience and research, and since we don't own a gentle giant, yet, my next purchase will definitely be a Coolaroo. Sure, there are other brands available, like: Kuranda the chew-proof crate bed, Pet Gear's Portable Pet Cot, Guardian Gear's Pet Cot made by Pet Edge, and on and on the list goes, but based on my thorough research, I'm sticking to what seems to be both better value for my money, less maintenance, and raving reviews.
