Rhodesian Ridgeback Discovery | The Saturday Funnies

What did the rhodesian ridgeback siblings discover by the side of the creek?

A sample of a miniature rhodesian ridgeback!

They soon lost interest . . .

Cute Chihuahua Pictures of Pedro

Pedro, the chihuahua puppy, may be a little terrorista, but he sure photographs nicely. To our relief, he has become M's main model. Even though he bites us and makes our as miserable as the day he showed up, my chiweenie sissy and I, are grateful for the diversion when it comes to photographs.

The miniature wanna be Rhodesian ridgeback, isn't looking too bad, is he?

Funny Dog Pictures (continued)

Little Pedro, the tiny puppy we inherited the day the rhodesian ridgeback sibs discovered he wasn't really going to grow up to be a rhodie, did not like trying his dog costumes on. I told him to grow up and man up. A blog dog has to give in to certain humiliations. He was too hysterical to listen to me, and M is still trying to get him to cooperate. I'm back however to share more funny dog pictures from the Petco contest.

Shining her pearly whites, this is Gidget, the other butterfly, or maybe a pink bumble bee. This is one cute Yorkie in a stroller.

Here's The Chicken, not to be confused with my sissy, the chicken-weenie.
Isn't that a fantastic costume? Her real name is Dottie.
Hi, Dottie!

This is Lola the clown.

This is our second place winner.
Excuse me . . .

Much better. A rather appropriate dog costume.
Hey, lil' pumpkin!

Meanwhile . . .
The chiweenie and I waited patiently our turn.

Oh, pizzle sticks! I have to run help M with Pedro's costume a-gain!
I'm terribly sorry, but as you can see, M needs all the help she can get.
To be continued . . .

It's His Fault!

It was the puppy's fault I didn't get to post earlier today. He didn't let me sleep all night and then he kept me busy all day. Add to that a couple of long power outages and the seven cat-astrophes. . . It's already tomorrow in some countries.

I'd like to share more pictures of Junior not only for your viewing pleasure, but also for feedback. If any on you, have any clue as to the breed of this adorable monster, please leave us a comment. See, we thought he was a chihuahua, but then when a certain troublemaker, she knows who she is, insisted that the puppy is a dachshund, we started to doubt ourselves. Bottom line, we don't really know what he is. Not that we really care, but I for one am really curious. Is he a chihuahua like me, a chiweenie like my sissy, a miniature rhodesian ridgeback like my hiking buddies? I doubt he's a dalmatian like my older sissy though.

Until I find the truth, I'll keep referring to him as a chihuahua. Ready for some more chihuahua pictures?

After keeping all of us up last night, he sleeps like a baby during the day,
and he sticks his tongue out at us!

He also likes to eat my favorite giraffe.

Don't be fooled by how cute he looks.

"Little guy, you're a whole lotta trouble."

Of course, I'm going to be responsible for many of his behavior issues. I'm already teaching him how to respect his elder chis.

Chihuahua Pictures | Junior's Back

Junior's back with his Rhodesian ridgeback siblings. Many of you asked if we're keeping him. That was the plan, but the Rhodesian ridgeback duo would have none of that. They are convinced that he'll grow up to be a rhodie someday.
In any case, as we're trying to put our home back in order, Junior's pictures will do. M only got a few hundred of them.

Today's edition of chihuahua pictures

Junior enjoying small dog treats

Junior getting ready for his trip to Hawaii

Junior hiding from me, the teacup chihuahua, behind the spotted dog
(like the plumbers, yesterday)

 What's this?
A brave chiweenie???

Junior passing my sniff test

I have a good idea of who is Junior's favorite from my pack.
It's the senior dog. Quick update: my older sissy is now on Rimadyl and she's comfortable
.
Awww, it's The Hand, another hand, not to be confused with the hand-shaped dog leash designed by Alice Wang!
I hope all of today's puppy cuteness didn't deter you from voting (tab up top: Furry Tails) in our latest pet photo contest (4 days left). I wonder who's going to win the pawesome prizes from Clean+Green by SeaYu!

A Baby Bro For The Rhodesian Ridgeback Sibs

Hear ye, hear ye! Our beauteous and bodacious super-sized rhodie friends, are fostering a new baby brother. I shall temporarily refer to him as Junior--until the rhodies or his forever home decide on his final name.
Before I bombard you with Junior photos, allow me to share some stats with you.

Hank: male rhodesian ridgeback, age 4, weight 95lbs
Sue: female rhodesian ridgeback, age 4, weight 93lbs
Junior: most likely chihuahua, just over 4 weeks, weight 2lbs.

Does anybody else see anything wrong with this picture or is it just me, Twinkie? For the record, I, Twinkie, a 4-pound teacup chihuahua, am really excited to be in the company of somebody who weighs half as much as I do. I hope M adopts him and he becomes mine, all mine. I didn't even dare dream of such possibility, but as I've said over and over in the past, life is good for this rescue dog, and life will be equally good for the new chihuahua rescue, Junior.

With no further ado, I would like to present to you, JUNIOR!

 Junior upon arrival.
A few minutes later, the yellow towel was pooped on.

Perhaps this is why Junior pooped on his yellow towel.

He seems to be hard of hearing (BOL)

He is a good eater and quite polite too. He made sure his ears didn't touch his food.

 Isn't he adorable?

I have even more exciting news to share. Junior would like to participate in "Furry Tails", our latest Pet Photo Contest.

 Potential contest entry

Good luck, Junior, we all welcome you with open arms and hearts!

Rhodesian Ridgeback Rescue Mission

Hiking with dogs is both a pleasure and a liability. One must take certain precautions, customized based on the dogs' individual needs. We're a pack with multiple challenges. We consist of two small dogs, the brindle chiweenie and me, the three legged, teacup chihuahua,  and  a senior dog. Our friends, the rhodies, are fit, young, and in great shape overall. While hiking with my rhodesian ridgeback friends the other day, I was witness to an incredible fall that ended well. Below are photos of my Sue, the female rhodesian ridgeback, as she slips on some sandy steep boulders and how she recovers. If it wasn't for the breed's athleticism and Sue's young age, we could have been in big trouble. Dear Sue probably weighs close to 80 pounds. It would have been hard to find any volunteers to carry her back to the car. I'll be quiet now and let the pictures do the rest.

WOW!

Another close call when hiking with dogs. I can't stress enough how many risks are involved. Be safe and enjoy!

Tall As a Tree

There are plenty of tall folks out there living a normal life, but our M always seems to run into issues that extend beyond her clumsiness. She's a rather tall gal surrounded by tree climbing cats. Recently she thought she was viscously attacked by Farrah, the pregnant cat we were supposed to foster. A careful breakdown of the situation and after talking to many cat savvy persons said otherwise. Farrah did not attack M. She tried to climb up her long leg. That was quite a relief.
Having just recently established that  M's leg doubles as a tree trunk, we were more entertained rather than shocked when Hank, the rhodesian ridgeback, a dog, got confused just like Farrah, the cat.

The evidence is worth a thousand dog treats:

M's trunk

Hank

I asked M not to wash her pants that were saturated with the aroma of my guy, but for some reason, she didn't listen to me this time. I guess I need to train her better.

The Blur

So far, I've tried my best to use the best photos available for my demonstrations, due to technical difficulties and speeds exceeding that of light, I'm afraid I have to use less than clear photos. I just want to share some playtime photos of Shandy (the icelandic sheepdog) and the rhodesian ridgeback twins, Hank and Sue.

Wise senior dog chose to be the referee.

Not so wise chiweenie and teacup chihuahua, became active participants to this dangerous game.

Twinkie: "Ehem . . . Hanky, are you forgetting your true love?"

Hank: "No, baby. We're good. I was just messing around."

After incredible zoomies, we visited our pond.
Yes, we stepped on the fish.

And right after that, we re-zoomed our games.

We had a blast!

Right after our guests left us, the chiweenie and I collapsed and took a long nap--after a lovely meal. We woke up just in time. M had just hit the bed. The chiweenie and I resumed our zoomies on her belly. She had to resort to rawhide dog chews. Mission accomplished.

Scorcher

When the temperature jumps up to the triple digits, it's nice to have a furiend with a pool. The other day, it was 103 degrees at my home, when the phone rang. It was my pal, Hank, the rhodesian ridgeback. He and his sister wanted to know if we would like to go over to cool down by his pool and have a kick back.
I jumped at the opportunity. I told the rest of my pack and they loved the thought too. The chiweenie put on her favorite leather collar, the dalmatian mix brushed off her fur (so she wouldn't get the pool full of hair, and I, the teacup chihuahua, went to work on M. She was easy to convince. We were out the door in under five minutes. Thanks, Hanky!

As soon as we arrived, Hank was anxious to show us his pool.

The chiweenie wouldn't go for it.

Linguini, chose a shady spot.

After our swim, Hank tried to spend some alone time.
"Not, today, Hanky boy. I have a headache."

We moved over to the front yard as soon as our furiends told us about Lizzy. We were curious.

Ay ay ay! Chiweenie.
The lizard is to your left! Other left!

The rhodies watched us go after the lizard, from a safe distance.

I thought they were laughing their heads off because of our unsuccessful hunt, but apparently they thought what I was doing was funny.

"Whaat? I'm just leaving you a little memento -- something to remember me by!"

Even the chiweenie understood my gesture.

Overall, we had the best time! We can't wait for the temperature to rise again!
