Chihuahua Pictures | Pet Photo Contest In Progress

Junior, the baby chihuahua rescue, the tiny dog that is half my size and five times smaller than my brindle chiweenie sissy, spent the day at my house yesterday. M got enough photos to post on our blog for the rest of the year. Since Junior's got such a warm response, I'll share many of M's chihuahua pictures in the days to come. He's irresistible! Believe me when I tell you, even our cats liked the little guy, and that says a lot!
Before I share the pictures, my apologies to Tank. The rule is that none of my family members may enter. Since Junior is sadly not my pack-mate, his entry is valid. Sorry Tank, but you should know that disheveled or not you're adorable yourself.

A Baby Bro For The Rhodesian Ridgeback Sibs

Hear ye, hear ye! Our beauteous and bodacious super-sized rhodie friends, are fostering a new baby brother. I shall temporarily refer to him as Junior--until the rhodies or his forever home decide on his final name.
Before I bombard you with Junior photos, allow me to share some stats with you.

Hank: male rhodesian ridgeback, age 4, weight 95lbs
Sue: female rhodesian ridgeback, age 4, weight 93lbs
Junior: most likely chihuahua, just over 4 weeks, weight 2lbs.

Does anybody else see anything wrong with this picture or is it just me, Twinkie? For the record, I, Twinkie, a 4-pound teacup chihuahua, am really excited to be in the company of somebody who weighs half as much as I do. I hope M adopts him and he becomes mine, all mine. I didn't even dare dream of such possibility, but as I've said over and over in the past, life is good for this rescue dog, and life will be equally good for the new chihuahua rescue, Junior.

With no further ado, I would like to present to you, JUNIOR!

 Junior upon arrival.
A few minutes later, the yellow towel was pooped on.

Perhaps this is why Junior pooped on his yellow towel.

He seems to be hard of hearing (BOL)

He is a good eater and quite polite too. He made sure his ears didn't touch his food.

 Isn't he adorable?

I have even more exciting news to share. Junior would like to participate in "Furry Tails", our latest Pet Photo Contest.

 Potential contest entry

Good luck, Junior, we all welcome you with open arms and hearts!

White House Security Breach

Third Couple Meet Obama Without Invitation

Twinkie and Frankie Van Twinkerson, Democrat supporters from California, were ushered into an invitation-only veterans breakfast with Barack and Michelle Obama after mistakenly turning up a day early for a tour of the grounds.

Unlike Tareq and Michaele Salahi, a Virginia couple who gatecrashed a White House dinner, and the Dardens' breach of protocol on Veterans' Day, Twinkie, a teacup chihuahua, and Frankie, a strange looking brindle chiweenie (there are all sorts of "interesting" looking and sounding designer dogs) claim it was not intentional on their part.
The pair said they grew increasingly mystified as they were ushered into the awesome depths of the building, but their concerns were brushed aside by officials. "We only wanted to meet Bo, another rescue dog," Twinkie barked out. "We're huge fans of Bo's blog," Frankie later added.
The White House claimed that the Van Twinkersons had been allowed into the breakfast after going through security screening as a "nice gesture" after they arrived on the wrong day for their tour.
However, the furry couple said there was no evidence that officials or the Secret Service had realized they were not on the guest list.
Ms Twinkie, age 4, a retired advice columnist, said she and her brindle  pack-mate were never told about the breakfast. "We prefer dog food, anyhow," Ms Twinkie insisted.
They believed they were simply starting their tour until they were ushered into the East Room, offered a buffet spread and told they would be meeting the president.
"The further we got into the White House, the more surprised we were," she said. "Frankie looked at me, and I looked at her, and I said, 'You know, I don't know if we're in the right place. But we were both too tiny to push our way out of there"'. When they approached a White House aide to suggest they had veered off course they were told to "just go with the flow".
"I felt kind of funny because I was the only teacup chihuahua in the room that wasn't dressed in a formal gown. I was just a plain tourist, wearing my everyday dog collar."
She said security officials had realized they were not on the list but, while their identity was being checked, they were ushered inside and joined 200 guests for a buffet breakfast. "Needless to say, the food wasn't as good as our homemade dog treats, but it was yummy!"
Another official told Ms Twinkie it was an event for vets, and, after learning Ms Twinkie and Ms Frankie had their own dog vet, he suggested they stayed.
A White House spokesman said it is not unusual for staff to take small dogs who are cleared in for tours to other events if there is space, including Marine One arrivals, East Room events and Rose Garden ceremonies.

White House officials have had to explain how a third couple managed to get inside President Barack Obama's residence for an official event without an invitation.

"They were so cute! They also promised we could enter our dogs in the Furry Tails pet photo contest," was one of the officials' responses.

America's most infamous unwanted guests showed up on NBC's Today Show.

We honesty just wanted to meet Bo and go on a dog hike, the couple insisted.

Ultimately, both Frankie and Twinkie were totally forgiven. They were also given the White House Frequent Visitor Badge

The California belles were beaming as they accepted their badge. "We were invited, not crashers. In any case, we will not be pressing any charges. My sissy and I are so glad everything's finally cleared and we can be good furiends with Bo," said Ms. Twinkie.

Pet Photo Contest: Furry Tails

The verdict is in. The vast majority of you voted for a tushie pet photo contest. I decided to use a politically correct name for our contest in order to avoid those who lurk in the shadows outside our children and pet friendly pet blog-dom. From now on, Show Us Your Tushie shall be referred to as FURRY TAILS on this blog.

Are you ready for the rules? For both our sakes, I couldn't simplify them any more.

Furry Tails Pet Photo Contest

The RULES

Click on the tab at the top of my blog titled: PET PHOTO CONTEST SUBMISSIONS. You will find an easy to use form where you can type in your pet's name and upload his or her photo.
All species (excluding humans) are welcome!!!

One catch:
Our wonderful sponsors at Clean+Green by SeaYu, cannot ship their free giveaways overseas, so they've requested the participants to be from the US and Canada only. While I respect that, I still say, all are welcome to participate, but if a non-US or Canada resident wins, then the next runner up gets the wonderful prize.
UPDATE:
A furry friend, Richie, asked "if I was lucky enough to win, could I nominate my prize to someone in the US?"
Absolutely! If you win, you are certainly allowed to nominate someone in the US or Canada.

As with all our contests so far, I would like to wish everyone good luck, the Twink way!

Sorry about the magnifying gl-ass, but ass you can see, I had no choice.

Clean+Green by SeaYu | Product Review

A product review for animal lovers made by animal lovers who also care about our environment. Review o-ver. Okay, maybe not so fast.

Two characteristics of our times are the increasing environmental consciousness and an obvious trend to really care for animals. Clean+Green targets the eco-friendly pet lover. Welcome to the animal blog-dom SeaYu! Where were you all this time?

Clean+Green's eco friendly products come in a variety of formulas, each product ozone safe, water soluble, biodegradable, and free of fragrances and masking agents. It is pet, child, and environment safe. Clean+Green is non-toxic, non-carinogenic, and is recyclable.

I'm writing this review from the standpoint of a rather large mixed cat dog household. Why is that so special? Not only are there ten pets sharing one roof (not including periodical rescues and fosters), but as we all know, cats and dogs don't always get along. The way this is mostly manifested is by MARKING! Every new fur-ball introduced to a mixed household necessitates the use of hard labor on the humans' part. So far, since my house is predominately "green", I've been using vinegar to neutralize pet urine at it's root. I do not like using harsh chemicals, on the other hand, I did cave in and bought ... whatever they sold at the local pet store. Not only did I feel guilty, most products didn't even work the way the label said.

As I type away, most of my furniture is outdoors, on the patio chairs. The cats went wild recently when I tried to introduce a family of four to the existing pack and tribe. There was little blood shed. There was lots of urine however. Now, as many animal lovers, I've been accused of overdoing it. I do not like to be criticized, so I made it one of my life's missions to get those people to zip it. The one thing that I focus on is odors! Whenever a friend stops by, they are put under the sniff test. I ask them to sniff hard and tell me if there are any lingering odors. So far, I've managed, yet, most of my furniture ended on the covered patio.

I had washed my couch pillows and extra large seat cushions with detergent. Sprayed them with products, used harsh chemicals, odor neutralizers . . . and ultimately, I still had to leave everything outdoors for a prolonged period of time, just to be safe.

After treating my urine soaked pillows with Clean+Green Carpet and Upholstery, I saw the difference.
SeaYu Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner, Odor Eliminator & Stain Remover

The directions on the spray can were clear: spray the affected area so that it is wet but not soaked. Clean+Green works by making contact with the odor. I knew I couldn't do just that. My problem had penetrated deeply. So, I soaked the pillows. The next morning we had lots of rain and the cushions were still wet. As soon as the sun came up the third day, I was stunned to find out that the urine odor was gone!

I love animals. I can't imagine life without my extended furry family, but I realize that without the proper product, my home too was bound to fall victim to nasty pet odors. Today, I am grateful say that I have finally found a product that works the way it claims while it is eco friendly.

The Clean+Green website has a store locator and lots of extra information. I also found that I can buy Clean+Green through Amazon, and I've already placed my next order.

What rating would I give Clean+Green by SeaYu? Almost a perfect ten. I'm very picky and found the aerosol spray to be a tad messy. This won't stop me from using this product in the future. I'm also going to order their Clean+Green Litter Box Cleaner and odor remover for extra clean air in my home. Another product I'm definitely getting as soon as possible, is their De-Skunk coat cleaner. There's a skunk living in my back yard and it's only a matter of time before my dogs get skunked, again.

I like being clean and green. How about you?

Clean+Green is so enthusiastic, proud, and sure about the performance of their product, that they offered to be the sponsors of our next pet photo contest. Three lucky winners get to see how well Clean+Green works.
