A Pet Related Incident

M woke up this morning to the following email from her beloved son who is playing professional water polo in Athens, Greece. We all heard her screams... and ran away.

The email (it was addressed to all, ehem, family members):

Countrymen, proud family, friends, human beings,

Today is not as funny as yesterday. Yet. But it does bring up an interesting question. The Greeks say bird shit is good luck. I wanna know what happens when a bird shits in your eye?

Preface: Grandpa don't panic. All is ok.

Good news of the day: Gabor is here in Greece.
Bad news: no good deed goes unpunished. Driving home a bird shat -> through the sun roof -> between the gap of my head and the front of the sun roof -> and into my eye. Hence the question. Do I get EXTRA good luck once my eye is better?

I'm only laughing because it's not a big deal. Bird scat scratched my cornea and I get this awesome MacGyver eye patch for 48hours and no swimming for 3-4 days at most. I don't have to play against the easy team tomorrow (kalamaki for those of you tracking) and I'll be back just in time for the hard game Wednesday (panathanaikos).

In the meantime. I am grateful to have my good friend here. I cried more from laughter in the waiting room than from the eye itself. Lol.

South African Ranger Lion Whisperer

This came to us in the form of an email. It is a series of photos of a ranger who's job is to prevent poaching around the wildlife refuge area of Lanseria, South Africa.

According to an article on the web: "His charm works with hyenas and lions too."

There's a total of 11 of us living under one roof. Seven cats and four dogs. It's inevitable; our house quickly fills up with hair. Frequent vacuuming and maintenance helps, but our humans are always on the lookout for the best pet hair remover, and, so far, and for a few months now, there's one winner: The Pledge Fabric Sweeper For Pet Hair.

This pet hair remover, has two lint-collecting  rollers that grab, lift, and trap the hair inside. It's easy to use, as long as the fabric has no slack. It works really well on surfaces such as: couches and pillows, bedding, chairs, and so on. I repeat, it does not work as well on loose fabric.

We've been through numerous pet hair removal products, including the popular pet hair rollers, several sponges, etc, but the Pledge Fabric Sweeper does not compare in ease of use and cost. It also saves time, since you don't have to keep finding the edge of the sticky paper. 

Another of the best features of the Pledge pet hair remover is that ... despite what the manufacturer says, IT IS REUSABLE! It is also inexpensive compared to the rest of this category of products.

New Family Member Introduction

It's A Boy!

I just recently got a new baby bro. His name is Noble and he's six years old. He's a thoroughbred and he's approximately 16.1 hands tall.

He's already clearing 4.9 by a foot.

As soon as my sissy trains him a bit better, I'm going to resume my riding lessons at the barn.

Bandit-Masked Intruders

We had some not-so-welcome company inside our garage last night.

Yikes!

One of the raccoons was missing an eye. He looked really scary. What's even more hair-raising is that raccoons are adaptable feeders, which means they will eat just about anything, from fish, mice, trash, tiny dogs . . . 

Raccoons are troublemakers and dangerous. They can also weigh 25lbs or more. Luckily, they're nocturnal, so during the day, all of us small dogs get to roam around our yard and take in the sun's rays.

They wreak havoc frequently at our home. They eat all our fish from the pond, attack the chickens in the middle of the night, and sometimes they even manage to open our food bins and eat all the dog food!

I do not like raccoons and that's final. Now, I'm sure you'll all believe me when I tell you that M has even raised a baby raccoon, but that was before my time.

These raccoons were lucky M was here. Had I been watching the house on my own, I would have taught them a lesson they'd never forget!
