Why Is This Tea Cup Chihuahua Blogging?

I reached a milestone today. This is my hundredth post. Hard to believe because under different circumstances, writing every day can be a equal to kat-crap. Not here though. Every post has been a pleasure. Well, that is when it's not about losing a furiend, an injured furiend, an ailing furiend... We've had some rough times recently, but I don't want to dwell in the sadness. I want to say a huge "Thank You" to all of you! I have never been embraced with so much love and consideration.

I had been wanting to blog for a long time, but I was afraid that nobody would be interested in the ranting of a tea cup chihuahua. Finally, on November 13th of 2009 I shyly posted my first story. It was about my start in life. Nobody read it. I posted again, nada. And again, zip. Nine posts later, I started making furiends. Dog Daze left me my first comment! I was so happy. A few minutes later my blue heeler furiends, Gas, Louie, and Callie, left another. Mango was next; he was delicate and soft spoken as usual, "Holly crap! What's with your leg?" BOL Paco, Milo, Maya, and Mommy Simona dropped by and left their so striking exclamations filling up an entire paragraph with them. Aaaah. Wait, what's that? I just got a new one on that same post: Anonymous stopped by to share an emo-boy-hair link, hmmm (I just saw that). I should add him to my reading list, not. Twix, Dip Dip and the Bridge, Houndstooth and the stunning Sibes The Thundering Herd and the OP Pack came next. By now, a few short weeks later I have many blogs I look forward to visiting. As for the comments I get, hard to keep from chocking on occasion. You guys are all very funny. My M has painted her keyboard a splotchy brown from the coffee she's spat on it at unexpected hilarious comments.

I was elated with my blog's fast progress but at the same time I ran into some issues. What is Wordless Wednesday, and is Khyra's Walkin' Wednesday the way to do it? If I don't, will that make me a bad blogger? How do you make links to show off your appreciation? Why was I being asked for my snail mail? I was confused. I wanted to have fun but I also wanted to tread carefully, since I already liked everyone so much. One of my tests came when somebody, I'm sorry I don't remember who, organized a live chat event. I showed up. Everybody was having a ball, but I was lost. I finally spoke to someone: "Hey, how could you say that? You're only a puppy?" was all I wrote. The "puppy" responded: "I'm no puppy. I'm thirteen!" Gulp. At that point I told everyone I had to help M in the kitchen. I left running with my tail between my legs. Now I can laugh about it.

The next huge event in my short blogging life was The Mango Minster 2010. Heck, I had yet to even see a Westminster dog show! What were all those categories? To make matters more interesting I volunteered to help. Wise Mango foresaw a possible disaster and backed off. He was right. I just now learned to PS and that was only because I had to. How could I tour the world with Max, the golden retriever, if I couldn't bring him along?

And that brings me to the most important part about blogging. I still tear up every time I think of how we all jumped on the Max Tour. We're all about support, love, and trying to share the good as well as the not so good times.

We share anything from stinky gas to recipes. I love our community. That's all I wanted to say, but I wanted to support it first ;)

That was sweet. We discovered you from comments you left on some blogs we read. You are a fun little critter and also your companions, Linguini & Frankie! Keep up the good work, we enjoy what you bring to the blog-o-sphere. We agree lately there have been so many sad tails.... our mom has had lots of drops coming from her eyes, but she enjoys the spirit of love and support from the bloggers. Hi Twinkie,

I recently discovered your blog and love to visit every day (no pressure to post every day). I can't remember how I managed to stumble upon your blog, but I am glad I did and have started to follow many of your friends blogs too. My dog Nina is not as adventurous as you, but I have posted about her on my blog occasionally too. Keep up the good work.

Your new friend,

Cindy

Congratulations Twinkie!!! 100 posts is a grrrreat milestone fur sure!!! I remember mine.
I am sooooo very much glad that you and I have become furends. It makes it nice that you and my Ruby and Penny get along too!!!
I just left Stella GUNTHER & Betty's blog. I have a little something for you... BUTT... I have to wait to hear from Gunther to be sure it is OK with him for me to send it. As you WELL know.. he is sort of a MACHO guy and kind of intimidates me. I wouldn't want him to get all green with jellyness and... beat me up for sending something to his GIRL!!
I agree that Dawgie Bloggie Land is a very much special place. We are kind of a "hidden from the world" loving and caring place where you can discuss anything from Anal issues to Zoomies. Sometimes in the same sentence. hehehe
Since you are a bit of a NEWBIE, you might not have noticed this side of our circle of furends. Almost every single one of us does (or has done) something to help other Dawgs!!!!! Things as grrreat as... adoptions or transportations or donations of time talent or green papers and plastic or visits to nursing homes libraries and hospitals EVEN some of us to have learned how to RESCUE two leggers. Had you thought of that? I mean, just look at your story... you were adopted and cared for by your special mom. She saved YOU so that your story could inspire others to do the same. There are certainly thousands of us that need loving furever homes.
Yes, dear Twinkie, you have joined a Pack that is truly grrrreat. AND THE PACK IS BETTER OFF FOR HAVING YOU JOIN UP!!!! I'm just sayin'.

I agree with Houndstooth - had no idea you were so new to this. I just assumed we were slow on the discovery (hardly unusual for us).

I started the website first, then started a blog, quit (and sorry to have lost those posts) and then started again. The impetus was our loss of dear sweet Nikita and I simply wanted to do a tribute to her and to celebrate the lives of the furry ones with us.

I was surprised to discover how caring the dog blogging community was. I mean, so much of the internet is filled with people you want to avoid ever meeting in real life (and you pray you don't actually know them), so I was cautious as well. But what I have found are people who truly cry when others are in trouble, jump to help a cause, or support those who need it, like Max's mom. It makes me feel so proud to call all of these people - and dogs - friends, even if I may never meet most of them.

So Twink on - we look forward to the next 100.

This was such a great post, Twink. A great way to mark #100. We are glad we became furiends too. Just remember if you don't see us here too much in the days ahead, it is only because Mom is very busy making things work with us and Ciara. She says it takes more of her time than even the grandbabies did when they were infants. But we will do our best, OK?

Have a great weekend.

Congrats on your one hundredth post! I understand completely how you feel about starting your blog! When I started mine I thought I would never get comments or followers. I didn't get comments until my nineteenth post!! I think what helped me finally get followers was making comments on other blogs. :) Regardless I'm glad I found you. You're one cool dude!

Holy crap! I didn't know you were "NEW!" You know what's funny? i had my "stories" on html (no blog) since 2002. I started "blogging" in 2007. I had NO idea there were other dog blogs out there. i only posted like 1x/month. in 2008, i got Loki and Juno and started posting a few per month. in july 2009 the herd found me and that's when i found DOG BLOGS. i was like WTF? WHO are these whacky people who are as whacky as i am about my dogs?

when i found you, i was certain you had been blogging much longer than me. wild, huh? you're a cute little girl. i just want to squeeesh you!
:)
wags-n-wiggles,

p.s. One of Loki's girlfriends at school is a chi-chi. Little shy girl named Louie who does search with us! Louie LOVES Loki. see, even tho Loki looks fierce, he LOVES little doggies. he's so good with them. it always makes me proud. He'd adore you! so would juno for that matter. she likes fiesty little doggies!

Congratulations on reaching your 100th blog. We did that a few months ago, and then the other day, we noticed that we HADN'T noticed we'd passed our 200th blog! What's with THAT!

You've gotten a TON more readers and commenters a LOT more quickly than we did. Don't know HOW you did that, but we LOVE coming over here and having a new friend in you. We, too, love the blogging friends we've made. They are so awesome and there is such love expressed! Your fairly new friends, The Corgi Country Crew

That was an awesome post! I am inspired! I might do an early days post as well. My momma was so nervous when we started blogging. Bogart sent me some nommy foodables by snail mail and she freaked out and said all "EEEE! I can't feed my dog something strange from a stranger." They happened to be perfectly good homemade jerky. Fortunately, he was most understanding.

Keep up the good work! You are a great addition to blog land.
