New Dog Diarrhea "Treatment"

Ever since I was rescued, I've been sufferining from chronic recurring dog diarrhea. It sucked. There were long periods when I wasn't be able to eat, heck, I didn't want to eat. At 2lbs, my family would freak out and go out of their way to find something to stuff down my throat. The dog vet prescribed medications including antibiotics. Yuck! I didn't want my GI system to be slowed down. I wanted to be left alone.  Yet, every now and then, I'd be rushed to the emergency clinic for IV fluids. Those first couple of years, I was simply miserable, until I doubled my weight. At that point, M, with my help, adopted a new way of thinking: She left me alone. I weighed almost 4lbs and she felt I could afford it. I was grateful. My bouts with dog diarrhea didn't last too long. In my case, I just needed to rest and wait it out.

As of this past weekend, things have taken a new turn. Having recently gotten my pack mates and me yöghund frozen yogurt, she'd done extensive research during which she found out that yöghund was organic, low in calories, and contained good bacteria to aid in the digestion and to boost the immune system. So, when she heard my tummy growling, the first unmistakable sign that I'm suffering from upset intestines and diarrhea, instead of leaving me alone, she brought me a yöghund for breakfast!

Believe me, I had no qualms downing an entire cup of delicious frozen yogurt!

I scooped out every last drop!

It does not seem that yöghund spead up my recovery by much, but what it did is provide me with a good and healthy meal that gave me enough energy to make it though the day without the usual listlessness that used to plague me. Yoghund is not a dog diarrhea treatment per se, but it aided me. I even went on a dog hike!

I can't tell you how much I've been enjoying this new dog treat. The nice folks over at Yöghund read my last post and said they'd be sending me some coupons, but my freezer's already stocked up. I'm going to be sharing them with my readers. Stay tuned.

Mom has yoghund and Land of Paws on her list for tomorrow when she is kidlet-free. She is really hoping Phantom will eat it. And we, TD and Ciara, are really hoping we get to show him how good it is too:)

We're so glad that the yogurt is making you feel better.

Clive gets two tablespoons of low fat organic natural yogurt mixed in with his dry food every day and loves it and more importantly it keeps him really healthy.

It we stop at all you immediately notice the difference in what comes out the other end!!

take care

Ah Twinkie I'm so sorry you are having to deal with that...Mom says yogurt is very good. My human sister's Cornish Rex kitty, Harley, was sent up to our city by his vet to have an ultrasound on his tummy to figure out his digestive issues. He has a treatable condition call mega colon. Now that they know what they are treating he is doing much better,
Take care sweet pea,

Grammy knew that yogurt is very good for the digestion, etc. for people, and that dogs can have good organic yogurt. The recipe that she has had for us since we were puppies (supplement)uses it because it is good for puppy's tummies, and we LOVE it. She makes us frozen yogurt treats by blending yogurt and fruits, like bananas and then freezing them in ice cube trays.

It is good that there is company that is making things like that for people and dogs that wouldn't do it themselves, and we are so glad that this is helping you. Grammy wonders if you would like the puppy supplement recipe, which is very easy on the tummy and helps put weight on puppies that can't nurse, just email us. It might help, too.

What a very good idea. Yogurt can be good for the disgestion and as you point out, at the least it's an easy to digest form of nutrition. Franklin's tummy gets a little funny at times. Not so much lately, but it might be good to have those around. I'm so difficult about what I eat, even when my stomach isn't bothering me, I'm not sure they'll work for me, but we'll give that a try, too.

lotsa licks, Lola

Mom always puts some organic blueberry yogurt in our breakfast because she heard, like your's, that it aids in digestion and blueberries, with their antioxidants, are very good for us!

Good thing we have smart cookies for mommas!!
