The Greek Protest Dog | Kanellos

Greece has gone to the dogs, I'm sad to say. What stuns me though is that even the dogs know it. While Greeks have been protesting, for two years straight now, following the death of a young boy by a police officer, the country's public financial humiliation, wage cuts, recession, corrupt government, spasmodic riots, turning the city into a Mad Max backdrop, one DOG stands out.

Kanellos, the mutt, not a designer dog, is still in the front line. Dogs need to eat too, you know?

What up dawg???

I am grateful that the world has its eyes on this dog--keeps everyone busy and entertained and the country a teensy-weensy bit less mocked.

How sad that there is so much upset there! Kanellos is very brave, isn't he? We did a google search to read more about him. Bet life is tough for him.

We have read about Kanellos before.

The economic situation in Greece is very hard, very like things here in Ireland but thankfully we have not had the violence that has accompanied the protests in Greece. We have good friends living there who are not having an easy time of it.

Hopefully the EU can intervene more and assist more.

The world is a very frightening place at the moment.

take care

Hard to tell whether the dog is trying to negotiate or just wants to chase the Molotov cocktails (which would be a bad thing...). Actually, we're with Clive - things are bad there; it would be nice to see things sorted out peacefully (and the dog get a nice big bone to chew on...)...

Kanellos sure is a brave doggie. It's crazy how hoomans resort to violence for every thing, sure hope things get sorted out peacefully.

Now that's a dude with attitude! We sure hope he has a home, but what human companion would let him court so much danger? So we hope someone will adopt him and get him out of the streets. Until then, may he continue to survive on his keen wits and God's grace.
