Lucky for us (NOT), we do not have to go through the expense of testing Pedrito for his breed. Nope. We don't need any dog DNA test to state what is slowly and painfully becoming obvious. Pedrito is a RAT TERRIER mix, aka TERRORISTA. Doesn't it all make sense? We think so. The temperament fits the bill; so does his high level of energy, his alertness, the deep chest, strong shoulders, his "intelligence", his love of water and swimming, his hardiness ... And now for our biggest clue(s):
Pedro started bringing home rats. He started out with field mice, progressed to rats and (drum roll here) yesterday he proudly brought us a . . . SQUIRREL! Yikes! Doesn't he know we used to run a squirrel rescue??? FYI, the squirrel was not much smaller than Pedro.
Pedro, the RAT TERRIER mix

OMD....Poor squirrel. The squirrel population is dimishing rapidly with all these exterminators in Blogville.
The Verminator!! BOL!! Good job Pedrito!!
Woo Hoo Pedrito!
Please pack your bags and come on over and HELP me get all these squirrels OUT of here!
woo woos, Tessa
What makes you thinks he ain't a doxie?
I started with a few rats and went to a squirrel.
GO Pedrito!
Puddles
Maybe we could borrow him? After being (mostly) mouse-free in our house for two years, I had a little bugger in the kitchen running along the moulding near the ceiling, and Fi and Abby were totally useless. Even when I got the little sucker onto the floor, the girls fled the scene. *sigh* We've also got lots of squirrels, if the mice run out (although the squirrels are outside...). Seriously, we could use a mouser again (our toy poodle Billy was our last real mouser, and he crossed the bridge 5 years ago..)
-Dr. Liz (Fi and Abby are sleep, and clearly NOT dreaming of mouse hunts...)
Hmmmm, so maybe having the terrorista verminator around isn't so bad after all. Hmmm, reading through these comments, maybe the Puddles is on to something there.

Wow, that is crazy - we mean we have heard stories of it, and we know that doggies are supposed to do that stuff but still, wow, Pedro is quite the Kujo for sure!
Were they dead? In a coma? On a leash?
I'll stick with my nasty Cardinal.

Oh-oh!
The look in his eyes!!!!
Kisses and hugs

The appropriate response is to get The Verminator a score board. Sort of like the WWII pilots had on the sides of their planes to document their kills. Our grandpa made quite a nice one for his Maine Coon Cat. We're in favor of awarding points for squirrels, too, but mama disagrees. She likes those little tree rats for some reason. Actual rats are another story entirely.
Can we expect to buy our Verminator action figures soon?
