Ziggy's First Vet VisitS

Yesterday, at 3 PM, Sasha and Ziggy, our two Great Dane puppies, went to the vet and got their last set of puppy shots. They were exemplary and I will share photos of the sibs waiting to see the doctor. They thoroughly enjoyed their visit, did not feel any discomfort from the shots, got lots of TLC and even lots of treats! Overall, they made our pack proud!

It was close to midnight. M was holding me while admiring her sleeping babies nearby when she squealed and jumped up so fast, I was afraid she'd drop me. I looked and was shocked myself. Ziggy's face had doubled! Aha!

Ziggy had an allergic reaction

Because Ziggy had just had his shots, M decided to take him straight to the emergency hospital. She took Sasha too with her, just so that she could observe her. The visit was brief and Ziggy was treated with a simple dose of antihistamine. He was apparently and most likely stung by a bee.

The swelling is almost gone today, but M and the danes sure could use some sleep!

Oh sheesh, this keeps happening to pups all over - those silly bees, don't they have anything better to do? We can just imagine how nervous M must have been with the timing so close to the shots. Glad things are all OK.

Pee Ess, we got about 7 old posts all at once in GR today. Off to check what we missed.

Aww, poor pup. I'm glad it was nothing serious!

Oh, dear! Glad to read Ziggy is ok. One of mama's Danes once ate a live bee and got stung on the inside of his mouth. He swelled up like a brindle walleymellon, usual panicked rush to the vet, took him about 24 hours to get back to normal. Hopefully Ziggy has learned his lesson about bees.

Twinks, you watch out for those hawks that are after the ducks. They aren't too picky and might snatch you!

Oops! Some of us have been bee stung, too. We keep Benadryl around. And, hey, didn't one of Frankie Furter's wives, Ruby or Penny, have an allergic reaction to a shot several months ago? Then, we think she got stung more recently, too! Yikes!!!

Poor Ziggy! I feel his pain... I was actually stung by a bee on my cheek this weekend while on a run. It's no fun!
