Chiweenie Potty Training Tips | Murphy's Law

The basic statement of Murphy's Law is "If anything can go wrong, it will." It has enough variations to fill at least one book. Let me explain why my interest in ol' Murphy; Frankie, my puppy chiweenie sissy. That's my reason. Momma has been asking me for the past two days to post to our friends that Frankie is finally potty trained. BOL Hasn't she heard of Murphy's Law? I finally agreed and promised to post tonight about Frankie's success in controlling her bladder (by the way, she graduated from her dog obedience training class and even got a silly star stuck on her forehead to prove it). All of a sudden, I heard the familiar and special scolding voice our mother uses on Frankie.

Ha ha. Can you all see the wet spot on the bed covers? I am a witness to the fact that our momma has washed both quilts and cover at least one to five times a week, since Frankie became a part of our family. This chiweenie puppy is going to write the book on how to potty train a puppy!

I tried to find a Frankie photo in which she looks the guiltiest. There were many to chose from, so in the end I settled for this. (Don't miss the paw action).

I was done with my post when I got a notice from Dip-Dip and The Bridge inviting me over to pick up the Showing Some Love Award. My dear tiny friends: Dinah, Bridget, and baby bro Elliot, I was on my way regardless. Blogger friends, you should check out Dip-Dip and The Bridge for yourselves if you haven't yet. It's one of my favorites.

As we all party on, our friend Mango, another favorite blog, is working his tail off with his famous Mango Minster 2010 competition. All I want to say about the contest is: we can all help out by reading the rules thus giving Mango some time to meditate--since he needs it so.

Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Rottweiler Wolf?

We had a lovely day at the creek with our beloved Mabel Lou, a large Rottweiler and Greyhound mix (a superb combo, if you ask me). A few weeks ago, I wrote about Mabel and Frankie. Some of you got scared. Watch out, the photos you're about to watch are scarier! You've had your warning.

Hey, you're too close, Mabel!

I gave her the chihuahua snarl for this one

My momma doesn't have photos of what happened next. To sum it up, Linguini and Frankie decided to back me up. Momma had to drop the camera and talk some sense into us. Peace was soon restored. We're all rescue dogs and we should just get along and be grateful. The truth is, Mabel just wanted to play. She's an oversized pup. In the end, we let her do what she loves the most: PLAY

We had a lovely hike, all of us.

We came home, muddy and cold. We took warm baths and landed on our heating pads (Frankie and I). Thinking back to our hike, I can't wait to go again with my friend, Mabel.

Trespasser Among Rescue Dogs

So, we're at our beloved barn enjoying the shockingly warming sunshine (my favorite weather, hot and sunny) when I spot this:

Her tag had a phone number and her name: Molly.

I found out later that she lives a couple of houses up the hill and that she loves our barn so much that every few days she runs away to visit us. She normally hangs behind the corral panels BOL! She thinks we can't see her. "Hola, amiga!"

Molly couldn't resist Linguini's charms. Still fearing for her life, she made her appearance. Notice her submission? Well, our Linguini certainly appreciates that. She's such a peace loving girl. Molly though got nervous again and off she went in the middle of the ring this time. Only problem was, the ring was otherwise occupied:

These are the regulars, the horse trainer's rescue dogs, don't they look like they belong?

Wait, what's that? Oh, yeah, there were at least five horses training when Molly decided to join the riders.

And there was Trixie too. The meanest and nastiest of the pack. I adore her and I admire her too. She should be more grateful than all the rest of us put together for being among the rescue dogs at our barn. She's lucky to have a forever home. 

Molly had to do a bit of running. She was being playful but she was also being careful with Trixie, the nasty chihuahua.

Finally, Molly came to her senses. She joined Linguini. Aaaah, aren't they so cute together? I sure think so. A few minutes after this photo was taken, the riders started to head home and took their dogs with them. Molly decided it was time for her to head back to her humans.

She was so lucky, look who came next!

It's Kujo's evil brother. I'd tell you his name, but we're still trying to figure it out. He was roaming the streets without his tags. I hope he finds his family soon, because otherwise I'm afraid momma's gonna bring him home. Rescue dogs are important in our life though, since we're all rescues in our home, so if that's what mom wants to do, then that's what we'll do!

Dog Training Tips | Barn Trouble

There is this street, adjacent to the barn that my pack and I frequent. Mom has repeatedly asked, begged, screamed at us not to cross because she's worried about the occasional car that passes by. I am a good listener, but Frankie and Linguini aren't and I can prove it. Here's the story in pictures:

See the runaways scram back once they've been spotted by our momma? How about the tiny dot in the right corner? That's right. It's me, the tea cup chihuahua, Twinkie, aka the good girl.

Yes, you are correct. I'm getting ready to teach somebody a lesson. Tsk tsk. Why don't they listen? I've heard that dalmatians have hearing issues, but what about german shorthaired pointers? I'm trying to decide which part of Linguini's personality makes her ignore our mom. 

I wouldn't get closer to me, if I were Frankie, the chiweenie. Hmm...There's Linguini too, but she's still kind of far.

Plus she's much bigger than I am. Al-righty then, today, I'm going to only teach Frankie a lesson. And so I did.

Enough dog training tips for now.

New Year's Eve Dog Treats

We were all supposed to stay home, as every pack should on such a potentially LOUD night. All of us (even the felines) are terrified of fireworks. Well, favorite-human-son showed up unexpected (yay) and wanted our momma to accompany him to a party (not so yay). After she made sure there would be no fireworks at the stadium close to our home, she agreed. They were only gone for a couple of hours. We all slept. Frankie was snoring as usual. By the time Momma & Son were back, we were well rested. Momma took us for a stroll under the moonlight and then we were too wired to go to bed. We got to eat sweet potato dog treats she had gotten for us earlier that day, as she cut the special New Year's cake--you know, the one with the coin in it (whoever gets the slice with the coin is predicted to have an especially good year). Our mom got the coin and she actually squealed, as she explained she hadn't won the lucky coin in ages. I'm very happy because I love my mom so much that I want her to always see her happy.
