Monday's Dog Training Tips | How to train a Greyhound

Enough joking around. Today, I mean business and I'm here to share some serious dog training tips. I will demonstrate that size does not matter and that designer dogs aren't any smarter than purebred dogs.

I was playing by the side of a "river" when I spotted trouble on the other bank. My Chiweenie sissy was in need of my help. Dog training tip #1: Look fearless. This way, even if you look pathetic like me, you at least surprise your opponent.

Like superman, bum leg flying off to my side, I dove into the raging rapids

"I'm coming, Frankie!" I yelled, swallowing more water with each breath I took

Have no fear! Twinkie's here!

One final leap and I was almost there

Frankie was screaming for her life because Mabel, our good old furiend, was looking at her. I tell you, designer dogs can be quirky, especially the Chiweenie type. As for Mabel, she's a fancy mix herself. She is a Rottweiler and Greyhound cross. Dog training tip #2: Stand your ground and take advantage of the voice Dog gave you.

The minute I landed on the other side of the river, I let the Greyhound - Rottweiler have an earful. "And don't you ever look at my sister again!" I said in the highest pitch ever known to Chihuahuas, especially considering I'm a tea cup chihuahua

She leaned a bit closer, probably because she couldn't hear me well from that high up
Frankie the Chiweenie, or Chicken Weenie, was inching away

"Run, Frankie, run," I yelled, while staring Mabel down

The Chiweenie didn't get far. She did feel braver though and she learned a lot from me that day. I sure hope you enjoyed my latest dog training tips.

I've been so busy recently, I still haven't had a chance to visit the Global Animal Blogging Event links to see if I won any of our free giveaways. I can't wait and I'll do it first chance I get! Bottom line, we're all winners just for participating and making new friendships.

The Date Night over at Twix's is turning into the event of the century. It's fun, unpredictable and hilarious. Look what they did with me and my Gunther!

"Twinkie and Gunther stopped at the beach before heading over. I heard she might put her bikini back on later and go swimming in the toilet!"
The happy couple! BOL
Warning: Please check first before flashing toilet

Have a wonderful week!

Dog Photo Contest | Election Day

FOR TWINKIE

Apparently, the Sporty Dog Category over at Mango Minster 2010 has exceeded all expectations. It is huge! Due to my tiny-ness, I always feel a certain disadvantage. Seriously, what if you can't find me? Therefore, after much deliberation (after seeing the incredible dog photo contest competition), I decided to give you a brief explanation as to why I deserve to win my part of the category. I sure hope Judge Moose swings by here before he is faced with his incredibly hard decision. I also hope he has forgiven my behavior at Key West. It wasn't me, Your Honor. It was the cervezas!

A trip down a good Sporty Dog's memory lane. I, Twinkie Twinkerson, am a good sport because:

I am an amazing guard

I am really tough! Na na nana na!
Catch me if you can, you rottweiler, you...

My feet don't always have to touch the ground

I can ride horses bareback

I can also ride bikes

I am a terrific dancer
This is the tea cup chihuahua dance, if you want to know

I am fully trained if anybody needs any potty training tips

I am funny

I have a great sense of humor

I'm a pawesome stalker

I love my chiweenie sissy

I never give up on a piece of duck,
or any dog treat for that matter

I did put up with this!

I know how to share

Bottom line, I'm just so darn cute!

So, what do you say? Sold?

Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Rottweiler Wolf?

We had a lovely day at the creek with our beloved Mabel Lou, a large Rottweiler and Greyhound mix (a superb combo, if you ask me). A few weeks ago, I wrote about Mabel and Frankie. Some of you got scared. Watch out, the photos you're about to watch are scarier! You've had your warning.
Hey, you're too close, Mabel!
said the small rescue dog to the larger one

I said, back off, bud!
I gave her the chihuahua snarl for this one

If you don't back off soon, I can't be responsible for what happens next!
The rottweiler mix seems perplexed still

I Warned You!

My momma doesn't have photos of what happened next. To sum it up, Linguini and Frankie decided to back me up. Momma had to drop the camera and talk some sense into us. Peace was soon restored. We're all rescue dogs and we should just get along and be grateful. The truth is, Mabel just wanted to play. She's an oversized pup. In the end, we let her do what she loves the most: PLAY
We had a lovely hike, all of us.

We came home, muddy and cold. We took warm baths and landed on our heating pads (Frankie and I). Thinking back to our hike, I can't wait to go again with my friend, Mabel.

Chiweenie Trip Trapping Over My Blog? (part deux)

In case anybody was wondering how yesterday's story ended:
Out of nowhere, the Lake Monster reared its head and gobbled me up

Okay, just messing with you. This is our BFF Mable (the rottweiler and greyhound mix). She just looks scary in this photos. She's actually a doll, a lamb, a lover not a fighter.  Here is the real ending...

While I was working on my stakeout technique, the chiweenie brat spotted me and waited on the other side. I noticed that and I

chaaarged!
And this brings us to the grand finale:

Chihuawars!

Disclaimer: No animals were hurt, not even The Chiweenie Beast!

After play-fighting, we got towel dried and drove home where we ate with great appetite and then crashed on the couch (where my heating pad is). For all of you Frankie fans, know one thing, I love my baby sister. After all, I wished every day for her arrival before she was even adopted.

Rottweiler | Greyhound Mix Meets Dalmatian | German Pointer Mix

Creekhiker Meets Twinkietinydog

We've been hiking for years now with our friend, a Rottweiler and Greyhound mix, Mabel Lou (creekhiker.blogspot.com. Mabel is a large dog and she scares me sometimes. All she's got to do is accidentally step on my lil' tea cup Chihuahua self and I'm down to two legs... or fewer. Ha ha. On the other hand, she's a gentle giant, like my human brother. I can't help but trust her. She gently jumps around me being so careful. It's my sister Frankie, the Chiweenie, who's afraid of Mabel, but that's because Frankie's a pup and she likes to whimper often. She'll come around, she's almost there.

Here's what we did the other day with Mabel. We went to Starbucks, where all four of us (Linguini, Mable, Frankie, and I) took turns sharing some whipped cream. We chilled for a bit, giving our mothers an opportunity to catch up, knowing what was coming next.

At last, our human companions started to get up and we all got excited. We were going on a hike. Ya never know where these two will take you. We got ready for an adventure!

We ended up at Arroyo Seco (in English: Dry Stream) among frisbee golfers. Soon, we'd left the crowds behind, luckily I didn't get hit by any large flying objects, and found water! Granted, it was muddy and all black, because of the Station Fire and the mudslides following that, but we didn't care. The muddier the better, right? Apparently our mom didn't disagree since she was knee-deep in the mud herself.

We ran around, explored, chased each other, hiked some more, waded in the water, climbed rocks and logs....What a day!
