Actually, I just did. It would be more accurate to state that I used to love pet behinds until this contest. I know, I know, I was asking for it, back to back contests. . . butt my work is done. Yours is just beginning.
We got plenty to chose from:
Big tushies, small tushies, chunky, or scrawny,
designer dog and confused dog hineys too,
cows, dogs, and cats,
from the most artistic to the present-offering bums,
muscular and athletic, to poor and pathetic,
long tails, curly tails, and no tails too . . .
Bottom line: It's all up to YOU!
I opted to do a public vote again for two reasons: a. the entries were extraordinary and b. the Clean+Green free giveaways are pawesome. How can a teacup chihuahua make such a momentous decision?
You can view all the entries by clicking at the tab labeled Pet Photo Contest: Furry Tails at the top of this page. You can vote up to five times on the sidebar.
I would like to wish all the entrants best of luck and may the best hineys win!
And if anybody was expecting a post from me today... for pizzle's sake, not a chance! BOL

Pet Photo Contest: Furry Tails
The verdict is in. The vast majority of you voted for a tushie pet photo contest. I decided to use a politically correct name for our contest in order to avoid those who lurk in the shadows outside our children and pet friendly pet blog-dom. From now on, Show Us Your Tushie shall be referred to as FURRY TAILS on this blog.
Are you ready for the rules? For both our sakes, I couldn't simplify them any more.
If you chose to blog about your entry, whether it's about the process of toning your glutes, your new exercise regime, or even your need for votes to help pick out the winning shot, please share with me your link, as I won't have time to go around all my friend's blogs. Thank you!

Furry Tails Pet Photo Contest
The RULES
Click on the tab at the top of my blog titled: PET PHOTO CONTEST SUBMISSIONS. You will find an easy to use form where you can type in your pet's name and upload his or her photo.
All species (excluding humans) are welcome!!!
One catch:
Our wonderful sponsors at Clean+Green by SeaYu, cannot ship their free giveaways overseas, so they've requested the participants to be from the US and Canada only. While I respect that, I still say, all are welcome to participate, but if a non-US or Canada resident wins, then the next runner up gets the wonderful prize.
UPDATE:
A furry friend, Richie, asked "if I was lucky enough to win, could I nominate my prize to someone in the US?"
Absolutely! If you win, you are certainly allowed to nominate someone in the US or Canada.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly | Pet Photo Contest Info
The kittens are now a little over 3 mos old. The weigh over 5lbs and sadly they are all much bigger, heavier, and faster than me, Twinkie.
The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly
The Good
Puddles, the calico kitten
Puddles is mellow and sweet with vivacious outburst. She keeps to herself a lot unless she's in the mood to be petted. She's the runt of the litter, but when she gets a toy, beware; she'll growl and protect it. Most of the day, she lounges around looking beautiful.

The Bad
Charlie Chuckles (aka Trouble), the tuxedo kitten
The instigator! We probably shouldn't have changed his name from Trouble. He is nothing but. He is unruly and obnoxious. He thinks barriers are to be ignored and rules created to be defied. He gets along with everybody in the house and loves to play ball with Frankie, the chiweenie. He is also a talker. He is this litter's shining star.

Charlie is climbing over a 6 foot barrier to get to us dogs.
The Ugly
The Smudge! (aka, Clorox), the muted tortie
Mama's girl! She is attached to her mom's hip most of the day. She's taken the semi-feral traits of her mom as well. She's hard to catch, and seems to only tolerate the rest of us. She hisses at all of us dogs and the rest of the cats. Up close, her face looks like somebody squirted her with bleach.

And their mama:
Farrah, the feral ghetto kitty
Farrah, the feral ghetto kitty
Still an amazing mother to her kittens. She's still nursing them as well. Because the kittens' adult teeth are coming in, when she nurses she often jumps up cussing and correcting them. She's really vocal. She's getting used to M who she loves to follow around. She's tiny and will not eat until her kittens are done. Even when presented with her favorite cat treats, she would rather give them to her babies.
The tribe is thriving, now I'm counting on M to protect us from the monsters that keep charging at us. Meanwhile, our home is adorned with beautiful squirt bottles strategically located in every room.
Pet Photo Contest Information
Show Us Your Booty!
It's going to be a bootylicious contest open to all pets. This time, I will kindly request that there are no human entries, pretty please.
In the next couple of days, I will introduce you to our sponsors by posting a review about their eco friendly products.
I will post the pet photo contest rules and free giveways in detail right after that.
As always, if the topic inspires you, by all means, post about your booty and share with your furiends; I know that I was truly inspired by the Show Us Your Tongue hilarious posts. Oh, one more thing, if I get one more comment about Puddles' hiney, I'm going to have to break my rules and enter my own personal tush, and that's a threat! In any case, don't forget to take our Brown Newfie friends' brilliant advice: start doing your lunges.Happy mooning, furiends!

Wordless Wednesday & Sabbatical Cancelled
This is the photo I was originally going to share with you on Wordless Wednesday:
It's me, Twinkie, the teacup chihuahua, enjoying my sabbatical.
Meeep!
Change of plans.
Before taking my leave of absence, I'd made a prior commitment to post a product review for an eco friendly company I discovered, and since they went through the trouble to mail me some of their products and since they also volunteered to give out not just one but THREE free giveaways, I have no choice but keep my word.
True indeed, ladies and tramps, I am nuts enough to start yet another pet photo contest. All I ask of you is this:
Show Us Your Ears
or
Show Us Your Hineys
?
This will be a combined pet photo contest once again. There will be no links posted on my blog since many of our contestants don't even have a blog. So, what do you say?
Oh, you want to hear about the giveaway! But you know me, I'm a tease and I love a good mystery. Stay tuned. A review and an announcement are coming your way soon. All I can say is that this particular eco friendly product works for mixed "cat dog" households, as for the rest of the pets, fear not, the contest will not only be limited to cats and dogs.
I look forward to your input as I try to figure out a way to make this contest easy and fun for you and me alike.

National Dog Week Day 2 & Contest
I hope you got the most out of yesterday. Still six days to go before the end of National Dog Week. Make every day count. Make your parents be at your beck and call. Also, put to good use all the dog training tips I've been sharing with you: don't forget the adorable look on your faces and all should go as planned.
A couple of furiends asked for pet photo contest clarifications:
1. How many entries? One tongue per pet, that's it. I would really appreciate if you sent me names and your blog's url if you have one. It'll help out my secretary, not the one I fired last week, the new one.
2. How many winners of the five free giveaway? Five.
3. How will we decide on the five winners? I will post all entries on my blog after the "Show Us Your Tongue" contest is closed (at the end of National Dog Week, on Saturday September 24th). It'll be a collective effort made out of an enormous panel of impartial and professional pet judges.
4. Will I participate? I wish.
5. Will the chiweenie or the spotted siblings of mine? Nope! I'm partial to them and I may be tempted to favor them.
6. Will giant breeds be allowed? I didn't want to at first, but mom made me. Yes.
7. Are there any animals that will be excluded? Just the obvious cheaters, lizards, frogs and all reptiles with agile tongues.
8. A request: due to heavy spam traffic, if you remember to, have something easy for me to discern in your email title, like: pet photo contest, my tongue, your tongue, Tongues-R-Us, Twinkie you look marvelous today... anything you like.
Meanwhile, I want to share with you that I'm really excited about this contest. It was going to be a quickie, but based on the responses so far, it will get the attention it deserves. We already even have a baby calf competing!
A bit of trivia that suits our contest:
Featured in the new Guinness World Records 2011 book is Puggy, the dog with the longest tongue in the world. Puggy is a designer dog, a Pekingese. But do not fret, we're not doing a longest tongue contest we're just doing a Show Us Your Tongue Contest. Small tongues are eligible to win.
I would like to share a yöghund video with you to get your appetites going, in other words, to motivate you to start warming up those tongues! Do I need to remind you of the free giveaways? Okay, free yöghund boxes filled with delicious and nutritious (mom made me mention the second) frozen dog treats!

National Dog Week Day 1 & Contest
Happy National Dog Week everybody! I was shocked to find out that National Dog Week has been around for three quarters of a century. We can all thank William Lewis Judy for it. Mr Judy was a serious dog fancier. He helped create the Dog Writers' Association of America as well as National Dog Week in 1928. Thank you very much.
Some would argue that "any day is national dog week". I agree, BUT for those of us fortunate to have loving forever homes, this week means extra everything. Extra hugs, walks, hikes, and of course edibles.
I wanted to do something special to mark this year's National Dog Week and thanks to Yoghund, I am doing a free giveaway contest. Yoghund has mailed me 5 free box coupons to give away.
*** An update and a much needed clarification: One tongue per beast please.

I posted about the upcoming contest yesterday hoping to get some good suggestions, but since so far my main input was that one of our furiends cannot participate in any contest involving physical activities and exertion, I decided to do a rather sedentary contest.
National Dog Week Pet Photo Contest
by Twinkie:
SHOW US YOUR TONGUE
I live with a quirky mom who is into dog bums and dog tongues. Since the first one may be offensive to the sane dog owners, we decided to go with her second fixation, the dog tongue.
Send or post your TONGUE photo anytime between now and the end of National Dog Week. My email is twinkietinydog (@) aol.com and I am looking forward to your submissions. If you choose to post, please email me the link. I don't want to miss anybody. For those of you that lack imagination, think peanut butter, yogurt on a stick, something yummy. Go on, tell your parents and make sure you tell them what "ingredient" to use to get your tongues to look better. Furiends, you should have known my contest would be a fun one for the participants.
I shall leave you with some sample submissions, courtesy of my brindle chiweenie and spotted dalmatian sissies:
Synchronized ear and TONGUE action
I mock you TONGUE
Silly TONGUE
Desert TONGUE
Bite your TONGUE
Double your TONGUE
OMT
(oh my TONGUE)
What's THIS doing in my pet photo contest?
Which reminds me... all animal species welcome BUT frogs and lizards. That would be cheating!
May the best TONGUE win!

National Dog Week Contest
Tomorrow, Sunday, September 19th, marks the beginning of National Dog Week and I want to celebrate with a contest. As I am still working on the details, I welcome all suggestions. I repeat, any dog, cat, pet contest ideas will be appreciated.
It wouldn't be a contest without free giveaways and since lately I've made many of you drool over my new favorite frozen dog treat, yöghund, for the purposes of celebrating National Dog Week, I thought it would be most appropriate to give out coupons for a FREE yöghund box!
Yöghund sent me FIVE such coupons.
Do I want to keep them all? Sure! I love my yöghund, plus it's good for me, but I love my friends more and I also have a weakness for contests therefore, I'm going to give out all five coupons.
Don't worry chiweenie. M will get us some.
Let's do it! I shall brainstorm all day and night, and, by tomorrow, I'll announce the contest which will end on the last day of National Dog Week, Saturday, September 25th.
What an exciting week we're about to have starting . . . now! Today, we'll warm up for our National Week with a bang and a BLOG HOP !!!

TVT: No, he's just perfect!(chuckle)
See, he fits just fine!
Rudy - The dog with a blog asked...
Awesome advice column - as always!
Since I'm so very young, I don't know much yet, I do have a question for you:
Is it our fault (dogs), or our owner's (humans) fault if we have an accident inside?
I've always wondered that.
Rudy
Since I'm so very young, I don't know much yet, I do have a question for you:
Is it our fault (dogs), or our owner's (humans) fault if we have an accident inside?
I've always wondered that.
Rudy
TVT: Young and wise, I see. Other youngsters would not have questioned the bipeds' shortcomings. You're going to be one awesome guide dog for the blind. It's the humans' fault is the correct answer. Why can't they tell when we need to go potty? What prevents them from opening a door for us every time we get the urge? Rest assured, you've done nothing wrong and my sissy, Frankie the chiweenie, will gladly back me up on this one. Oh, and one more piece of advice, during the following week, feel free to share responsibility for all accidents with Sparkie.
"Wasn't me"
Fiona, as typed by Dr. Liz asked...
Most excellent advice, as always! (Especially for Mango, the dating-challenged...) *ahem* So, wise one, I have a question for you: why, when it rains, does Mom get all bent out of shape about me wrestling with Abby (the mutant puppy monster) in the mud? What is her problem? Thanks!
*kissey face*
-Fiona and Abby the Mutant Puppy
*kissey face*
-Fiona and Abby the Mutant Puppy
TVT: To use your own words, "mud, what mud"? BOL It's universal. Moms do get all bent out of shape over silly nuisances, but with proper dog training, they can slowly learn (they are slow learners and that's a fact). I have faith in you and your mutant sister. Mud is readily available after the snow melts and after a rain. That pauses a problem with consistency. Try to create your own mud, seek it everywhere and make sure you always cover yourself in it. Did you know that it's a new trend now that grooming places offer mud baths for dogs? Some people believe that dog mud baths even get rid of fleas. Please have your mom read about therapeutic mud baths, and tell her you're saving her money. She will eventually come around.
Remember: mud baths have hidden benefits
Frankie the Chiweenie asked…
Mom's been too busy lately and all I want is to go hiking with dogs. What's up with that?
TVT: You sweet lil' rude girl, our senior dog needed a rest above all. Now that she's feeling better, we'll get mom to take us on a dog hike. Go bother someone else with your silly questions. Didn't you learn anything at your AKC canine good citizen class?
Hiking with a senior dog needs to be done responsibly
Mr Koda MD asked...
Fantastical advice TVT!
I have a question... How did you become so knowledgable? You know the answer to everything, is there something like Wikipedia I can use to become even half as smart as you?
Basking in your glow
Koda

Basking in your glow
Koda
TVT: Tsk tsp, Mr Koda. I'm very concerned about you. I mean, you're the type of dog that when hungry, falls asleep on the hand that feeds you. I must say, I'm a bit at a loss here, and that's rare for me. Okay, I will recommend intense audio-visual therapy here. I believe you need stimulation. I prescribe a minimum of two hours a day of quality web browsing (try ihashotdog.com) and another two hours of quality television show viewing (American Idol, South Park, and Bridezillas). Get back to me in a few days and let me know about your progress.Basking in your beauty.
Case in point
hero asked...
Thanks for all the great advice, Twinkie... you're the wise one indeed.
Q: Each time I go to the park, I can't resist sniffing the butts of all the dogs, my hoomans suggest to sign me up for BSA... Butt Sniffing Anonymous, is there something wrong with that?
Licks, hero
Q: Each time I go to the park, I can't resist sniffing the butts of all the dogs, my hoomans suggest to sign me up for BSA... Butt Sniffing Anonymous, is there something wrong with that?
Licks, hero
TVT: You lucky dawg, you! Unlike, Nip/Tox, the catnip rehab center, BSA is the place to be if you're a butt sniffer. You get to make tons of friends who are all in the same boat. You all get to meet once a week and form the world famous sniff train (imagine a row of butt sniffers). Your sponsor is also going to be a seasoned and experiences sniffer. Welcome the opportunity and enjoy!
Always trust a sharpei's nose
Dory and the Mama asked...
Hi Miss Twinkie...Great advice as usual!!
Here is my question...why is it that Mama feels like she has to take ME to the dog groomer when she grooms Jacob and Dory at home...??
Thank you kisses!
Bilbo
Here is my question...why is it that Mama feels like she has to take ME to the dog groomer when she grooms Jacob and Dory at home...??
Thank you kisses!
Bilbo
TVT: Dear Bilbo, I am well aware that you wish you were a short haired dog so that you could do away with grooming altogether. Alas, life can be tough at times. My friend, you're only a seven (almost) month old pup and you have to be patient with yourself. Grooming is not the end of the world, besides, you don't even like the folks at the groomer's. I say you observe Dory and Jacob carefully a few times and then imitate them. I promise, there will be dog treats involved.
Note to Bilbo's mama: I promised Bilbo treats, please deliver.
Bilbo the way he likes to be remembered, as a younger pup not in need for grooming
Mango asked...
Golly, Twink, thanks for the advice, I think. Are you sure that I can't look at other gals when I am out with Tula? Sob. I will give it a try.
Slobbers,
Mango
Slobbers,
Mango
TVT: Yes, Mango, I am certain. You cannot look at other gals when out with Tula. Don't forget, you have a reputation too. You're a major flirt and word has spread around blog-land. I mean, I was never sure that there wasn't something going on between you and the fabulous Khyra and her fluffy pantaloons. Having been branded a "player" is definitely not conducive to your relationship with Tula, therefore you have to always focus your attention and affections toward her.
Resist the urge to follow your nose
Pregnant cat update and a contest
FYI and of course feel free to join the party: I'm doing an informal CONTEST on my facebook fan page taking guesses as to how many kittens our foster cat is going to have. Free giveaways included. You can click HERE to see the event and HERE for my FB page where you can upload your photo and guesstimate. Farrah is doing great. She's getting bigger all the time and today she can't even groom herself--she rolls over. She's rather anxious and tries to attack all of us including the hand that feeds her. Can't wait for the kittens to come.
Now, go take on the day!

Monday's Dog Training Tips | How to train a Greyhound
Enough joking around. Today, I mean business and I'm here to share some serious dog training tips. I will demonstrate that size does not matter and that designer dogs aren't any smarter than purebred dogs.
I was playing by the side of a "river" when I spotted trouble on the other bank. My Chiweenie sissy was in need of my help. Dog training tip #1: Look fearless. This way, even if you look pathetic like me, you at least surprise your opponent.
I was playing by the side of a "river" when I spotted trouble on the other bank. My Chiweenie sissy was in need of my help. Dog training tip #1: Look fearless. This way, even if you look pathetic like me, you at least surprise your opponent.
Like superman, bum leg flying off to my side, I dove into the raging rapids
"I'm coming, Frankie!" I yelled, swallowing more water with each breath I took
Have no fear! Twinkie's here!
One final leap and I was almost there
Frankie was screaming for her life because Mabel, our good old furiend, was looking at her. I tell you, designer dogs can be quirky, especially the Chiweenie type. As for Mabel, she's a fancy mix herself. She is a Rottweiler and Greyhound cross. Dog training tip #2: Stand your ground and take advantage of the voice Dog gave you.
The minute I landed on the other side of the river, I let the Greyhound - Rottweiler have an earful. "And don't you ever look at my sister again!" I said in the highest pitch ever known to Chihuahuas, especially considering I'm a tea cup chihuahua
She leaned a bit closer, probably because she couldn't hear me well from that high up
Frankie the Chiweenie, or Chicken Weenie, was inching away
"Run, Frankie, run," I yelled, while staring Mabel down
The Chiweenie didn't get far. She did feel braver though and she learned a lot from me that day. I sure hope you enjoyed my latest dog training tips.

I've been so busy recently, I still haven't had a chance to visit the Global Animal Blogging Event links to see if I won any of our free giveaways. I can't wait and I'll do it first chance I get! Bottom line, we're all winners just for participating and making new friendships.
The Date Night over at Twix's is turning into the event of the century. It's fun, unpredictable and hilarious. Look what they did with me and my Gunther!
"Twinkie and Gunther stopped at the beach before heading over. I heard she might put her bikini back on later and go swimming in the toilet!"
The happy couple! BOL
Warning: Please check first before flashing toilet
Have a wonderful week!

I interrupt my latest dog training tips to announce that the first ever Global Animal Blogging Event has come to an end. It's been a blast. The best part for me was watching the newer blogs' friend lists grow and grow along with their comments. All the feedback I've received has been positive and I am grateful for each and all your lovely remarks. I never expected so much personal publicity and links. I was truly humbled and self conscious, but then I got it. It was your way of saying, thank you. Well, I thank you all back! You were wonderful!
The event may be over, for now, but your links will be revisited as it happens with all of this type of events. Active participants, make sure you post and contact the winners of your free giveaways today.
One final huge "thank you" to Ann from Zoolatry for making the most appropriate, stylish, classy, smart, and vibrant logo!
An event like G.A.B.E. does not exactly take off during its first year. It picks up momentum and traffic as it becomes established, but I think we did a fine job launching it. I'm looking forward to Global Animal Blogging Event 2011!!!
Cheers to all my friends, old and new, and to the winners!
Twinkie, your grateful hostess

Dalmatian | German Shorthaired Pointer
I am obsessing over designer dogs, so when a friend pointed out Linguini's absence from the blog, I immediately felt the need to oblige thus sticking with my recent "designer dogs" theme.
Linguini's story started at the Pasadena Humane Society, an animal shelter. M had one dog, Rosie, a chocolate lab, and didn't want another at the time. She wasn't into rescuing yet. She did however lose her cat and while looking at the pound for her, spotted ... the spotted Dalmatian. Now all puppies are adorable, and Dalmatian puppies are no exception, but Linguini was different. M was told that Linguini was a German Shorthaired Pointer and Dalmatian mix.
I already consulted my precious "designer dogs" list and there was no special term for our Linguini. BTW Linguini was initially named Daisy to match our Rosie. She was no dainty Daisy, but she did move like a wet noodle, so she was renamed Linguini shortly after her adoption.

Designer dogs? Huh?
Who needs Dalmatian puppies, when you can find a fine specimen of a
Dalmatian and German Shorthaired Pointer mix?
Linguini is proud to be a mutt
"Daisy" and Rosie
Linguini and Rosie appeared to be two peas in a pod. Wrong! M was fooled, and, as soon as she let her guard down, Rosie attacked Linguini and ripped her throat. Linguini was hospitalized for a while and later spent a month recovering at home with a tube sticking out her throat. She required around the clock care. She recovered in the end, but only after losing control of her bladder for a couple more years.
About three years later, Rosie got killed, but I'm not allowed to talk about that. Linguini regained control of her bladder, which made life easier on everybody. She decided she was going to be an escape artist next and soon was nicknamed Houdini. There was no stopping her. The pound pounded our door many times to demand that we take control. They threatened with fines, taking her away, putting her down (OMD), but Linguini didn't care. M mounted a 60 foot tether in our back yard, by the pond and had to keep Linguini tied whenever she wasn't around. Needless to say M and Linguini were both miserable.
Can you see the German Shorthaired Pointer in her?
Other than the fact that she frequently and clearly points, we can't see it
Linguini is a happy dog that wants to please. If a human looks at her she falls on her back to get a belly rub. She's peace-loving and never cared to interact much with other dogs. Until recently.

This is Sue, Linguini's BFF
Sue doesn't make friends very easily either, but those two had their own chemistry going. Funny story, Sue playfully bumped Linguini while horsing around the other day and Linguini was airborne! Rhodies are tough and strong. No hard feelings of course. Anything goes during playtime. Sue and Linguini have set their own boundaries. They visit each other's homes, hang, share toys and marrow bones... When you see a loner take to another dog the way those two did, it's magic.

Happy spotted dog, um, Dalmatian, um, mutt
The minute I joined the family, Linguini was gentle with me. She would run towards me, but as she approached, she'd take tiny leaps to make sure she didn't hurt me. I'll never forget that. For a couple of years, we shared the home as the only dogs, peacefully, each doing her thing.
When Frankie, the "Chiweenie" joined us, I thought, "this is it!" Frankie was constantly hanging from Linguini's face, jumping on her, tugging on her ears with her sharp puppy teeth, and I was sure that one day she'd become appetizer. It never happened. The worst thing Linguini's ever done to Frankie is a low warning growl, but the brat doesn't care anyways.
This is Linguini now
She loves to spend her days by M's feet
The closer to M, the happier she is

She enjoys sharing whipped cream with her pack
She loves food and has become a skilled counter surfer!
As if Linguini's life hadn't been complicated enough, when she was about to turn ten, about a year ago, she started getting sick. She had difficulty getting up, her energy was low, and M took her for a check up. She had several dog tumors (benign) and her liver and thyroid functions were slightly compromised. M changed her diet, put her on a joint juice, and started exercising her religiously. Ta-da! A brand new Dalmatian/German Shorthaired Pointer was born.

Our new dog
Linguini's health is restored for now, and a year later she hikes, swims, loves her visit to the horse barn, and has a bestie. She's constantly happy and the other day she even caught a bird, to M's dismay (only a couple of weeks ago spotted dog had caught a gofer).

Gorgeous!
When Linguini was sick, last year, M told her, "I gave you ten good years, you owe me at least that many." I think Linguini got it!
As we all well know, it's not about quantity but quality. We all love her and appreciate every moment we have left with her. That was the story of my sissy, the gentle and happy Dalmatian/German Shorthaired Pointer mutt!
